Dancing on the beats of Animals by Martin Garrix at the lavish la chica loca bar, Anushka realized that she has a meeting to attend tomorrow early morning. Gone were the days when she was a lazy, tardy, irresponsible, good for nothing and living-on-parents'-money kind of a girl. Today, she needed no alarm, no sticky notes and no him to remind her of what she had to do. "Oh yeah, Imma rock the meeting tomorrow. My dear grossy bossy, get ready to be left awestruck!!", she smirked on her own crazy thoughts. On her way outside to the bar she saw a girl throwing up, she took no time to realize that she was a first timer for alcohol. The thoughts of her having alcohol for the first time took over her mind. How she sneaked out of the house on a Saturday morning telling her mom that she has extra classes at the college and will be late. How he arranged the alcohol at a friend's place and how she ran out of the house and flirted with a random cute guy, threw up on his T-shirt and then started laughing on him. "Ugh, I was such an embarrassment for them", she thought, embarrassed. Then the thought of how she expressed her feelings to him for the first time and then danced like crazy with her gang of 5 for the next 3 hours. "Good times, good times!!", she exclaimed. Stepping out of the bar she noticed a group of college students discussing about the latest Arnold Schwarzenegger movie - Terminator genisys. Suddenly, she saw a girl and a guy of that group looking at each other sneakily. The others were noticing the two and giving each other the "we know everything" look. She felt nostalgic. She distracted herself and tried to look for the cab she had called. "Don't ever trust these Dilli ke cab aur auto rickshaw wale. Call me or papa whenever you are travelling by cab. Never forget to click the picture of the number of the vehicle you're travelling in ", her mother's worries about her living in delhi, which was famous for all the bad deeds for women, stroke her mind. "Don't worry mom, I have learnt now. And this time, without bothering you!", she promised to her mother, clicking the picture of the cab number and checking for her safety tools in her bag, all in one go. "Block-B, Greater Kailash", she gave the driver the instructions for the way back home. As soon as she entered the cab, it started raining. Looking at the twinkling lights of the city that never sleeps, she reminded of the days when she was in love! "It's not you It's me", she still remembered Ravinder's last word before they parted ways. "He never looked back after that, neither did I", she concluded as she looked at the falling raindrops over the window. She noticed some kids dancing and enjoying the rain and was amazed to see such beautiful welcome of rain at such absurd time. "You've been selected for our 2-year U.S. program", she remembered of the times when she was selected for the 2-year U.S. internship program. "Sometimes just a blink of an eye is and a selection of some words is enough to change lives", she was thankful. She reminded of the days when she was miserable, lonely and weak in the initial days when Ravinder left for no reason, the days when she failed in three subjects in one single semester, the times when she lost her grandmother who was a constant support, the moments when she felt a void in her life and her life was nothing more than a successful failure story. The void was no more in her life. She no more felt lonely, weak or miserable for anyone. After 5 years of a successful career at google and having her own firm now, Anushka was a strong, independent, 25 year-old woman. "Life has changed a lot, people left, people joined...", she thought looking at a 35-year old man riding his scooter as fast as he could so that he can reach home as soon as possible. "Thankfully, for better", she told herself. She was no longer afraid of being alone, for, she was the one who completed herself. She was no longer miserable for love, for, she loved what she did, she did what she loved. "Dear me, I love you. And thankfully, you're never going to leave me..", she giggled and brushed all the thoughts and enjoyed the rest of the ride till her home. Anushka was happy now. "Maybe, this is what they call being mature, maybe this is what they call life!", she thought as she paid the driver and went off for to rock her own life; alone or with someone to be with, she cared no more...
