THE SPECTRE

A rattling sound on the door was caught by her attention and she woke up all of a sudden. The room was totally dark. She could nohow guess the source but it was a very familiar pattern.. Once again she heard it but the sound had soften a bit this time. She stepped down from her bed and started walking towards the door. That smell!! That very smell was prevailing everywhere, a soothing one yet attractive enough to arouse someone. Lust had arrived in the form of that smell. Her sweat pores began to proactivate themselves and every cell of her body demanded love; just love? It was inviting her towards an endless emotion while she inclined to taste every single bite of it. Her steps were slow rather her thrill forced her to slow down because someone once had told her that she should wait for something she was bound to receive.

Something stopped her. She turned back to see the curtains of the window beside her bed swinging gently. Those white laces bordering the perimeter of the curtains was indicating an unknown inception, the launch of her feeling in reality. Right beside the other side of the bed there was a candle which was not melted completely but somehow it was being blown off. Mark the words, there was no one else inside the room while it was a chilly winter night and consequently no door and windows were kept open. But she did not find it strange. These had happened earlier as well.

She remembered about the last time; that day as soon as the smell became more intense she felt a dark curtain falling on her. She was lost into it while nothing could strike her eyesight. For a moment she was agitated, she thought she had become blind. But soon her misconception got cleared when she found a smoky apparition at a distant from her. It walked towards her but she felt like it wasn’t walking; it was somewhat floating. A mysterious fear grabbed her, she wanted to run but something had locked her feet and she couldn’t move as inch. When the apparition stood right in front of her a chill ran through her spine and she closed her eyes. She sensed a cold breath upon her mouth. She felt a soft pair of lips brushed hers, a trembling hand, cold and soft cupped her face and whispered into her ears, “ We will meet soon”.

Since then she had been waiting for his arrival and the day had come. She was frenzy enough to explore that touch once again. It was cold yet warm enough to tempt her soul, soft yet hard enough to increase her palpitation. Turning her face away from the lace-bordered curtains she tip toed towards the door. A moment before opening it she heard the knock again. She held her breath for a while and tried to poise her emotions. She was meek enough to fantasise the ways she wanted to feel him. She wanted to soothe her mind by letting him touch all over her, she wanted those lips to brush hers once again, she wanted her sweat pores to call for a beautiful yet thrilling affray resulting to a cold dampness on her skin just like his touch..

Her hand began to tremble as she was about to unlock the door.

The odour disappeared.

She opened the door and found nothing but an wooden box with an amazing design crafted on the lid. She held it gently and opened it. A giant white rose having a general unusual smell but something that was familiar to her. She felt a cold breeze touched her shoulder which loosened the strings of her dress. A dark curtain fell upon her..

“I’m here sweetheart”. The whisper was same but the apparition was different.
