As sunlight streamed in through the windows, lacing and dancing through the tapestries, waking her from her deep slumber, she sat up and looked around. Everything was new and old, bright and dreary, hopeful yet hopeless, with all but life. Brushing the hair out of her face, she reluctantly walked the same 10 steps to the start of this new day. The same voices and sounds echoing in the backdrop, bouncing off her like the impenetrable jargon of life lessons.
As she stepped into the new day, she pondered on the reason of her living. She was different. She felt different. Her friends found her silences strange. Some envied her for what they believed to be her poise. The world casually dismissed her existence. But all she really was......was lonely. She yearned for a loving touch, a laugh not directed at her, a kind soul that would share her joys and sorrows and help her with the pain, the pain that ripped her heart out every moment of every day. Just as she sat, regurgitating on these same thoughts, now a routine, she heard it!! A voice as refreshing as the sound of a stream cutting through the trees, a face as mystical like the crystal clear waters of a brook, with eyes that spoke of love and joys unknown to her ever before.
She looked into those kindly eyes and felt something change. It was as if the dark shadows of a storm had passed on, driven away by the sound of his voice. The flowers smelled sweeter than before, the birds sounded chirpier, the winds blew faster, the waves lashed out bringing with them tranquility.....
She never wanted this to end. It was serene! It was beautiful!
But it would and she knew it. After all good things never last! Life never gives you things you don't deserve and she knew he was one of those things. Unattainable! But for once in her life she wanted to believe it could happen. He made her feel alive, beautiful and safe. As she sat drinking in every word that escaped his lips, she could feel herself falling in love with him. More each passing minute. She could live for eternity looking into those big, brown warm eyes, live by the sweet caresses of his hands. It was only then that reality struck her......He was just too perfect and she a broken image, with its multitude of fragments scattered and jarred. And she knew it was time to hold back the flow, to put out the fire.
Days flashed by. Hurt. Pain. More hurt and more pain. And one day as she wandered the dark, loney paths, a sudden light illuminated her tracks, calling out her name. She turned back and there he was... eyes shining like they always do, the smile she fell in love with playing on his angel like face. He walked two paces forward, smiled and held out his hand.
"Stretch out your hand for me, trust me", he said.
And she did...........
