Tell me a story.
A story about your childhood.
How you remember it. How you lived it.
When innocence was not a weakness, and games were just for fun.
Tell me a story.
A story about your first love.
When that love, was everything, and everything else, was nothing.
When time seemed infinite, and the world was small.
Tell me a story.
A story that you want to forget.
About the things, the people, the places, the memories you don’t want to remember.
All those things that made you who you are today.
Because what does a person become, if they forget who they used to be?
Tell me a story.
A story about today.
About the new day you got to live today.
And the plans and wishes and hopes and dreams that came with it.
How did it go? Better, or worse than the today you lived yesterday.
Tell me a story.
A story about hope.
A story where good struggles, falls down, gets back up, and wins again.
Make me believe, that you still believe.
Because isn’t that what makes the world go round?
Tell me a story.
A story about your fears.
About the places inside your mind where you lock them all away.
Open those doors. Sit with your fears. Let them tell you their story. Make them unafraid. Make them feel safe. Love them, as much as you love the rest of you.
Tell me a story.
A story about that time you lied to someone you loved.
And how it changed you.
Did it change you? Or did it make you?
Tell me a story.
A story that makes you happy.
That memory, that feeling.
Take me there too. Show me how you felt. Show me who you were.
Tell me a story.
A story about where you’re going.
Where your dreams are your map, and your will is your compass.
Tell me a story.
A story without words.
A story without feelings.
A story without hope.
A story without love.
A story without fear.
A story without happiness.
A story without sadness.
A story without people.
Is there such a story?
Tell me a story.
Because you are one.
And I’m here to listen.
Quick Author's Note
Hello, again. I know, I know. Why the hell am I publishing a new story so quickly? It's so out of character... (is Lakshya a character? He is if he refers to himself in the third person) I mean, You Only Die Once is still hot and steaming from the oven.
Well, the above story is something I wrote in the moment, in about 10 minutes really, because today we celebrate 6 months of Listen, Guide, Storytalking - that is, Launchora's Storytellers Program.
If you've supported our little platform for 1 day or 1000 days, thank you.
This story is now available as a Listen story.
So go ahead, and listen to me tell you a story about how I would like you to tell me a story.
Because this story is not fiction. I'm serious. I want to hear your stories. If you haven't tried doing a Listen story yet, I highly encourage you to. We feature one new story every week, and all you need to do to get featured is give it a shot. I promise you, it's extremely therapeutic to 'tell' a story.
So go try out LSP and Listen - we've opened it up to everyone for a free 30 day trial so you don't have any excuses left.
Tell me your story.
A hindi adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's "Hills Like White Elephants" (1927)
74I’m back to writing… with a twist. Presenting an old story in a new way, 5 years in the making.
