THE CHILD IN ME

Info

Age 21. Responsibilities. Adulthood. Got to be serious. Life changing decisions. Ring a bell?! We are so easily lost in this madness. Society, parents, friends , competition . The world Is definitely not what we want it to be and we fail miserably not being able to meet expectations and standards put by the above mentioned. So what is it that we lose in the course of time? Why does life suddenly become the downstream of a roller coaster where your gut rushes to your throat? From what I learnt thanks to an MS.Dhoni interview is about taking responsibility come a tough situation. We either crumble under pressure or embrace pressure by taking responsibility and seep through it. Easier said than done the fear of losing is what holds us back. Expectations we cant fulfill. Picking up from where we left, learning from our experiences and facing new challenges is perhaps the most difficult thing to do. My girlfriend is a perfect example of somebody cool, chilled out but more importantly a fighter. How can somebody be cool and tough at the same time? Well it’s because she embraced the child in her. Whenever I listen to her speak, I see her bring life to every little detail that happens in her day. Starting from simply looking at a top somebody wears to the colour of the wall. Believe me when I say there is just pure innocence and no exaggeration in what she says. That is because she has embraced the child in her. The one thing that changes as we become adults is the amount of responsibility, need to be more independent, crying oneself to sleep because everybody is busy, having to live alone in a new city, being alert to god knows which kind of threat. Through all this I always end up seeing a happy face. A certain calmness throughout the day and it would look like the gravity of what she s facing is rather low! I admire how she manages to look at everything as a challenge rather than a problem. Enjoy being busy rather than cursing time and people. Learning and mingling with all kinds of people rather than being choosy and judgmental. The child in her reflects essentially the thirst to learn, the urge to climb back on her bike after falling, to learn from mistakes and to smile through a tough phase. She does that not because she is wired that way but because she chooses to. I’m sure you all can too. Remember she is not childish. She simply embraces the child in her which means she enjoys life to the fullest. She lives in every single moment and gives life to people around her. Something a child does right? Becomes the center of attraction! I might sound like a saint! Trust me I’m also learning to embrace the child in me. All I’m saying is that this could be an option for those who find life stressful and overbearing. Don’t lose people, jobs, money, relationships and friends over pain that a situation or circumstance gives. Pain makes us do stupid things. The child in you protects these things and helps you become tougher. I see this when I listen to my girlfriend tell me about her past ,present and future. The tougher the situation the bigger the person she becomes. She rises to the occasion because she s not afraid of losing. Live , laugh , smile and embrace the child within you.
