The island of my dreams has left me hollow and breathing.
She was scared of the little lies I told.
She was afraid of my inhabitance.
My island was a prison for her. My love to her a mere word, metaphor for our burning bond.
She had already traveled far, alone into the stars.
Now this moment, she is trying hard to smile. But I know well.
She says to me, looking away,"Today is going to be boring. Sun is shining the usual."
She then turns her head towards me. Her eyes shouting the truth. She was lost.
Was I lost too?
I know solitude is good, but now loneliness feels much better.
But why am I still leaning towards her, still crying for her help.
My crippled existence has my shadow tangled with reality.
I am tired. I am empty.
The sins may have traveled across oceans to reach me.
I think she knows the truth. She has found the real me and finds me hollow and a dark shade of blue painted on a skeleton. She knows.
The darkness is shining tonight. Maybe the moon is laughing at me for being so fake.
Maybe If I leave here and find a different island of dreams, a new one, a better one. I can be real again.
In a new sun, I can have a new shadow.
But reality is red and she is yellow.
Shadows of your thoughts, crawl into my breathing soul and they lead me astray in my mind.
31I have slipped enough, for now I am trying to hold these strings as tightly as I can. I am art.
