The Evening

After three years I had visited the same hotel where it began. Days passed but the memories are still crystal clear in front of my eyes. Holding wine in my hand I looked at the walls of the hall. Which seemed to have undergone many whitewashes in these years but still could narrate the whole story as much as I can.

'Looking for something?' A lady asked.

'The key to escape my past.' I replied. She gave me a curious look. I understood she wanted to know the story.Sometimes it's better to trust strangers with a past that haunts you everyday. I gulped the whole wine in one go and placed the glass on the table next to me.

I was sitting in a corner of the room looking at people around me.

'So you won't dance?' Pia asked. I gave her a look of disagreement and it was enough for her to understand I was not interested in any kind of enjoyment.

I was forced to join a function where I had no idea what was going on. I didn't liked the idea of parties or me it was just a way to waste time sitting with people bitching about each other.

I was grazing at people thinking what was so enjoyable here when my eyes felt on her. Walking through the entrance of the hall she was a red in all blacks. I can't remember if I blinked for that moment. She walked straight towards me and sat beside close enough for her perfume to ignite me from inside. I feared if she could hear my heartbeats because my heart was pumping so fast than usual.

'Hi' She said.

'Hi' I replied wiping the sweat on my forehead. 'Rahul here.'

'People call me Maya,' She replied shaking my hand.

Her touch was the best feeling I ever had. I wanted to hold her hand for a bit long but that of course was not possible.

'Dance?' She asked.

'Yeah! Sure,' I said and got up. I looked around to see if Pia was watching this. But she was not there. I took a relaxing breath and held her close. With my hand around her wrist and her's on my shoulder I had a feeling I never experienced before.

I looked into her eyes she looked away and then slowly pressed her lips on my neck. We were standing hugging each other. Didn't knew if it was love but yes it was something I never felt before.

'I come in a minute,' she said.

'I will wait,' I replied.

She gave me a smile and left me there. I stood there for minutes. Minutes became hour but she was not back. I felt a tap on my shoulder I turned back expecting her to be there. But it was not her.

'Where were you the whole night?' Pia asked.

I found myself standing in a dark room all alone. I didn't even realized when time passed.

'We all were searching for you what were you doing here?' Pia asked.

I didn't knew what to say. I was in the party for the whole night and suddenly Pia is standing here in front of me saying where was I.

I had a sleepless night that night. I was changing positing the night. I got up to have a glass of water when my attention was caught by a newspaper by the side of my bed.

"Girls murdered near a hotel. No evidence found yet.' I read a looked the picture of the girl below. The newspaper fell from my hand seeing the similar face in the newspaper.

I stopped narrating the story and looked at her face.

'What did you saw?' She asked.

'It was the picture of the girl I spent the whole evening with,' I replied.
