Let me tell you about the days of happiness;
Rain doesn't always mean sadness,
for the little girl by the window waits for the rainbow
arcs of light with beautiful, multiple colors.
Those were the days when everyone could still see my genuine smile;
I did not falter, I was not afraid to fall.
For they accompanied me whenever I walk an extra mile;
but it all changed, when the little girl saw how the world turned against her.
At the age of seven, in Manila
She studied how to read and write;
When the rain poured, she learned to use her umbrella.
She became a bright kid but her imagination stopped to take flight.
At the age of 12, she barely smiled.
She listened to songs
while the tv is on, people quarreling, reports are about violence and crimes
Unlike the old times, her heart is numb and didn't go with the beat,
she couldn't wait for the time to pass.
At the age of 15, she changed a lot;
She learned the math, how to calculate the value of the circle, how typhoons occur
She even read the book by Ellie Terry, "Forget Me Not."
But she failed to remember, how she adored the moon, the sun, as it shone above her.
The girl looked in the mirror
"Is this really me?" she questioned herself, eyes empty;
Old memories fading, hazy, and blurry.
I saw her how she suffered, for I was the one standing infront of her, eyes empty.
In the busy streets of Manila and the daily hustle of a Filipino, who knows what it can bring?
