The Heart's Parable

Info

Once upon a time, in a place called Jewelry Box, there was a lovely Ring and used to be there since she was born, her life is just plain and simple. Together with the other jewelries, they live in a cold, dark and lonely box. She’s always curious about what lies behind their world, she want to go out of the four corner of the box, but, she does not know how. Until one day, an old bracelet told her, for the jewelry like them, has the only way to get out and she will be able to see the world if there is a finger that could fit her, The bracelet told the story that every now and then a group of fingers, used to visit the box to looked for a ring that suits each of them, without hearing the end of the Bracelet’s story, the Ring runs away, and stand beside the door of the box, the Bracelet don’t have a chance to tell to the Ring that it will be just for the short period of time, when the finger grow bigger, the finger will return the ring inside the box again.

The lovely Ring patiently waits for that day. Until one day, she woke up embracing her dreamed finger, which she will accompany wherever the way they could be. At first she embraces it too loose but as the time goes by, it tightens little by little , the Ring thought she have learned how to embrace the finger properly until they fit in each other. They love each other so much, for the warmth they gave to each other, for the new experiences they encounter and for the life they live together. Because the ring loves the finger so much, she always holds it tight for she is afraid to be loosened out and lost.

One day she woke up, without the finger she use to embraced, instead she is holding a thin string and she is lying on the weird wall, weird because it always move that shakes her. She can’t sleep well because of that noisy wall, so that, she keeps away from the wall and suffer the coldness that makes her shiver and the weirdest thing is, when the wall moves faster; it will followed by the warm raindrops that helps to ease the coldness she felt. She hates her new world, each day she keeps on missing the finger, she missed the warmth it gave and the old times they had. She cried a lot for the lonely life she have and spend all her days remembering her pass. She keeps on hoping that one day; she will be on the finger’s side again.

Until one lucky day, she saw the finger, what the joy he felt and she said to the finger:

“I know you will come to get me”

The finger did not move toward her, instead it took a deep sigh; she could see the sadness written on the finger’s eyes. Then she noticed that there is an ugly scar around it.

“This scar reminds me of you, because you hold me so tight, it hurt me so bad and wound me so deep, so that I decided to put you back on the box where I found you, because I have learned that we are no longer fitted with each other”

Then the finger walk away leaving the poor Ring. The Ring was so broken and she wants to die. While thinking on how to end her life, suddenly the wall move again, this time faster and louder than before, she heard a low voice; the Ring thought that there must be something on the other side of the wall. Out of the blue, he neared close to the wall and listen carefully.

“Please don’t! Don’t end your life” the voice shouted from behind.

“Who are you?” the Ring shouted back

“My name is Heart; I used to be here, watching you all the way.”

“So you are the reason why I am here? You are responsible for the pain I am suffering now!” she nagged to Heart; she can’t understand why this Heart intervenes in her life.

“Finger want to put you back on the box, I don’t want to see you lonely like you used to be, so I decided to take care of you from behind.”

“Why did you hide from me?”

“From the very start, I want to help you out from the box, but I know that it will be a big trouble, For the ring like you, destined for the finger, I let you to meet the finger for you, I let you because you can’t embrace me as you do and I knew from the very start that I am not the one you’re looking for, we are not compatible to be together, were so different from each other.”

“Why did you always make noise and you always bang the wall?” She remembered how irritable she was when she heard the loud noise and when she felt the violent shakes.

“Because I want to comfort you, I want to say It will be okay, I want to hug you when your cold and tell you that I am always here behind the wall, willing to listen on the burden you carry. But I can’t, because there is no chance for you who always keep herself away from the wall.”

“I always want to comfort you, when you noticed the warm drops fell on you, it is when, I hurt myself just to make my tear comes out, so that I could give you warmth whenever you’re cold.”

The Ring learned that; the wall is the chest and on the other side is the Heart who watches her all over. From that day on, the Ring move close to the wall, so that the Heart no longer need to hurt itself just to warmth her, and she learn how to appreciate the “noise” the heart makes, until she had realize that it was not a noise at all, it is the Heart’s beat that becomes a music in her ear.
