The Ink on Every Stroke

Info

The beauty of being a human is that we can put our thoughts into letters to form the words and logically weave them to make a story. Perhaps this drove me into this passion of writing even though I never really considered myself to be a good storyteller. Sometimes, it satisfies me to see words. Sometimes, it pains me to feel the emotions embossed on those words. Sometimes, it makes me feel like a whole person. The language of writing was my bridge when I couldn't see the path to my own being. For my 18-year existence on Earth, I am happy and proud that I am a writer.

Personally, I write because I want to express. I pour into writing all my frustrations. My creativity gets challenged and I loved how it made me feel.  I have been on this industry since I was young. I even remembered writing a story entitled "Three Wise Mice." However, I wasn't able to retrieve its contents. I was still on the 2nd grade at that time, you know. Currently, I am a feature writer of the Weekly Sillimanian. Working in a weekly publication plus the pressure from academics, I barely have the time for my self-pampering. But at the end of the week, hearing from people their criticism on my article makes me happy. Besides, the main purpose of writing is not to impress people.

Another reason why I write is it gives me confidence that helps build my character. Knowing that I can write essays, poems, stories releases that strength for me to be able to defend myself. What others think of me greatly affects the way I deal with life. I think having this source of energy to overcome it is as important as eating a full and healthy meal three times a day.

Perhaps, we may not be on the same side of the boat on why people write. Maybe, my reasons might seem shallow to your rational thinking. But this I want you, my readers, to remember. The ink on every stroke that forms the words an author uses in his/her  works—may it be a poem or something serious like an essay—reveals a thousand truths about life through different lenses. Writing doesn't only serve as an avenue of expressions but also the birthplace of life lessons served to both the author and the reader.
