Before I close my eyes and lose my final breath,
Before I utter the final word and reveal the secret that has been kept,
Before I finish the book and embrace the last dot,
I wish to see you by my side and feel my loss.
Before I step on the island and play with the sand,
Before I giggle my last laugh and miss the tiniest sound,
Before I glance in the skies to journey with the stars,
Before I drop the last tear
and allow the grave to demean my soul,
Please delay your flight and witness my morose.
Before I let go of the nightmare of yesterday
And speak my adieu,
Let the angel in you appear in my view.
Allow the demons in me shatter you
And together we’ll witness the final play.
But before I let go,
I want us to dream together.
You and I will live for a moment,
For tomorrow will be my farewell
And you shall witness bereft because of the silence of my words.
