THE MESSENGER

Did you call your dad today?
I asked him politely.
He said,
Why do you care?

I answered,
Because I've been getting spam messages from him.
He said,
Don't mind him.

I said,
Look man, you have to talk to him.
He said in a flat tone,
Who are you again?

I answered,
Oh right.
Thanks for reminding me,
I am no one in your life.

I am just this somebody else,
Who's been poking to your business.
I'm just this little slut,
Trying to guide you with your life.

I'm just this young lady,
Who abandoned her life.
So I can save yours,
But nevermind.

He looked me in the eye,
There's pain in there.
He softly said,
Don't cross the line.

As I held my tears my falling,
I managed to give a smile.
I told him, Don't worry,
You'll never see me cry.

I walked away,
With my phone in my hand.
As I enter my room,
I started to type.

Hey Dad,
It's Cindy again.
Your son's quite busy,
Let's try tomorrow again.

His dad responded,
Okay darling I understand.
Tell him to remember me,
I don't have much time left.

As I wipe my tears,
I replied.
Yes, Dad I promise.
J'll see to it that he'll get that.

Days passed by.
We didn't talk much.
We became strangers,
In our house.

Early Tuesday morning,
I saw a message.
With my eyes party open,
I read it.

Cindy, this is Sandra,
I don't know how to say this,
But your Dad just passed away.
Can you get  this message to Mark?

Tears came,
I couldn't breath for a moment.
This is the part where I can't think.
I was paralyzed.

I know that I am used to,
Delivering messages to him.
But this news is too much.
I don't know how to begin.

I went downstairs and saw him,
He was busy reading some magazine.
I gave him my phone,
I said, READ SANDRA'S MESSAGE.
