Once in a while, we would catch ourselves staring blankly on a ceiling or a wall, lost in our thoughts. It’s funny that one simple object can bring back a thousand memories, but believe me, it really does, and we would end up remembering some of it. As for me, I am holding a pen, the one I used when I won first place in an essay writing contest. Was the feeling good? Yes, it feels great, knowing that once in my life, I experienced being enough, and valued, for a short period of time. We all have our winning moments in life; those were the happiest and treasurable moments that put joy in our hearts. After all of the sacrifices and hard work, we got ourselves a prize, but not all the time.
I don’t really believe in losers. We tried, but sometimes even if we give all of our hardest efforts, the battle isn’t for us to win from the beginning. On the middle of the fight, we’ll caught ourselves stuck, drowning, putting ourselves together, piece by piece, and pushing ourselves to get up, then realizing, we’re knocked down again, and this time, the bell rings, we lost the fight. Some would say “That’s ok, you did your best”, “Maybe next time”, “Just try again.” Those encouragements helped, a bit. Because deep down, when we are already on our own, different thoughts come rushing in our minds. “I should’ve work harder” “I should’ve given my best” “Maybe I am not good enough” or “Maybe, I wasn’t really good enough”
Later on, we’ll realize that being not good enough sometimes teaches us a lot of lessons. Even if losing kills us inside, it makes us tougher, we are not afraid to give every chance a try; we just keep on going. So what if we fail again? We’re not afraid anymore. Life is a cycle of trial and error, the answers are all around us, and we just have to keep on looking.
Finding for the answers to a lot of questions requires patience, and one of the things we also learned for not being good enough is taking our time. We take everything slow and just right on time, even if the people around us are going fast. We all have our equal chances, give it a shot and who knows? Life sucks sometimes but it never forgets to give a little spice, a little surprise.
The best lesson that we can learned for not being good enough, is simply just being not good enough. Acceptance is the key; we don’t look for something or someone to put the blame on them. Learning to admit to ourselves makes us understand that we still have a lot of rooms to improve, it may be exhausting, to be knocked down over and over again, but we still have the pieces, we can still put it back together or start on something new.
On the other hand, the ink of my pen isn’t good enough; I should give it a refill.
