As fire whips across my skin
With the trace of perversion in its wake
I close my eyes and part my lips
And remember the scene upon which we stumbled and intertwined
'Tis is but acetous candour, yet could be told as a fable if I so desire; and I desire so fervently
And so in the lilting manner of a fable it shall be told
In an enchanting garden made of dawn and twilight
A girl, who gave the stars away
A boy, who unflinchingly chased the stars in a desperate trudge
From the sea of screams and blood
Where hope is the sway of the wind
Rises she; an abhorrence of a girl
With the scars that line her wrists, and the contusions marring her skin
And where the shadows dare to revere the light; a mere breath away from dawn
Lies the boy, a study of refutation
For where there is shadow upon his face
There is the sweet petal of faith in his eyes
As the dawn breaks each day, and the shadows cower once again
The girl drowns herself in the sea
Whilst the boy tilts his head in mourning as the stars fade away
For he sought light in the expanse of darkness; with no love for the dawn with its scorching luminance
Fate plays her hand, and the two stumble upon the other
And therein lies the beginning of our tale; to be weaved by the melody sung by their souls
I see you the way the twilight sees the dawn, said her heart
With a flicker of reverence, for the dawn is fascinating
And with a storm of rage, for the dawn is derisively naive
I see you the way a dreamer sees the moon, said his heart
With a touch of fear, for the moon is unknown and, therefore, thrilling
And with the pull of allure, for no man can resist a mystery
As twilight falls, they sought each other; for they too, like the heart craves a beat, could not resist their craving for the other
And as the moon perished and was reborn once again
Their unsaid words turned into soft breathless whispers under the stars
And when their lips touched for the first time, they lost themselves in a fire akin to that of the stars that burned above
For they both bruised each other; they loved too fiercely, too desperately and perhaps that was the most exquisite manner of being destroyed in their garden of twilight and dawn
And it was in the canopy of shadows, both of their past and of their present, did they finally felt alive
This is where the fable ends, and I scream again as my blood weeps
For were all fables naught but a lie; the scars of our souls did not mend so easily
And yet when i feel the rhythm of his heartbeat against my own when he kisses my tears
It is love that breaks me apart and imbues my ventricles with joy in the same breath
His demons were in love with mine, and mine were with his
And they taught us how even blood and scars can encase us in a love neither measured nor understood by its silken dark depths
For this, I will love you as the thorns clings to the rose
I will love you as our skies thrash under the weight of voices not yet forgotten
I will love you as the torment pains the shattered child hidden in the depths of our hearts
I will love you as the skin breaks under the razor edge of memories
I will love you as the desperate soul of mine longs to drown in the sea of your being
And when our bodies break; the years fade away
When the taste of you is more than an escape, but a satiation for my heart
When in the depths of your eyes, i lose myself to euphoric oblivion
I shall slide my cracked lips against your steady heartbeat and whisper,
"I love you, as the heart loves the shadows of the soul"
Only for you to whisper back,
"And I will only ever love you, until the last breath leaves my body"
