The Things They Say

Info

Passes me a cig,
"No, I am cool."
Their brows shoot up, "Right! So uncool."

On the dance floor, I move to the beat;
He coils like a snake, "Tonight at mine?"
"No."
"Such a bitch!"

Rendezvous with a long lost friend,
Words flow over wine and eccentricity marks the air-
Until she smirks, "Lazy ass, you haven't worked out a bit!"

A milestone: For two months I have consistently loved and was loved.
Or was I?
"Sex as a celebration!" Cheers he,
"Some other time, perhaps?"
"Leave. You're a prude."

Clothed in a black dress: "What a wannabe!"
Wearing shorts: "Raise your morals, please."
Clad in jeans: "Isn't it too hot? Is she sick!"

I am just a simple girl at a loss with the way this world functions,
"Shut up! You are being overly sensitive."
