I picked up a crimson rose
And compared life to its beauty
But realised I lived in a delusion
When the thorns flaunted me of life's cruelty
With broken bonds and a bruised heart
Emptiness slowly crept into my soul
Who compelled me for a desperate quest
To seek temporal pleasures to make me whole
Money makes the world go round
Perceived, perhaps money could fill that void
So I struggled solely to persevere but
Wealth was insufficient to keep me joyed
Love has no bounds
Is what I eventually learned
For the first time, a thousand smiles
Flashed across my face unearned
Her essence captivated my being
Tuning tenderly, my heart to a new melody
Sadly, love did not suffice to broken promises
Emptiness re-flourished from an unspoken tragedy
Tears cascaded endlessly
For I sought love in the wrong places
Demons traumatized my mind
Bringing up my mistakes from inflictive traces
Then one day, prevailing through all the chaos
Kindness and compassion made its way
In the midst of the bottomless darkness
There blazed a tiny ray
I encountered love once again
And it soothed each of my imperfection
Love never left the right places
For love is a divine intervention
Reminiscing about my memories
I gazed at the ones who stayed
Their happiness mended my broken pieces
To behold their laughter was all I prayed
I looked ahead to the friend I made
Who finally calmed my storm within
Fortunately, thorny bushes have roses
She uttered with a grin
