UFC lightweight champ Tony Ferguson faces ex-World Series of Fighting 155-pound titleholder Justin Gaethje. The winner of the bout will claim the interim lightweight title. That title is expected to get the victor of the May 9 scrap a title unification matchup against current lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“The Ferguson vs. Gaethje fight is one of the most violent fights you will see,” White told ESPN on Instagram Live. “I can guarantee that. This fight is going to be incredible. The winner will fight Khabib for the title. This is for the interim. 100 percent (the winner fights Khabib).”

In the co-main event, bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo welcomes Dominick Cruz back to the octagon in a 135-pound title fight. Cruz, who is a two-time UFC bantamweight titleholder has not fought in nearly four years. Injuries have kept him out of action.

“He’s still one of the best in the world,” White said of Cruz on Instagram. “He’s one of the best in the world. He’s a guy who has been incredibly plagued with injuries throughout his career. But, he’s still looked at as one of the best in the world.”

In a statement on the UFC’s White said of the UFC’s return, “I can’t wait to deliver some great fights for the fans. I want to give a big thanks to Mayor Curry, VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena and Florida State Boxing Commission Executive Director Patrick Cunningham for getting this thing done and giving us a venue to put on these incredible cards, as well our media partners including ESPN and ESPN+, for bringing it to fans. My team is ready to go and the fighters are excited to get back in there with these back-to-back events.”

The UFC has not held an event since March 14 in Brasilia, Brazil.
