The unknown. It always scared the hell out of him. In school days, it was named 'X' and an entire subject of algebra revolved around it. Why the hell should he give a damn if the 'X= 5'? The X destroyed his awesome childhood. It took away his evening sport periods. He had to sit in front of his terrifying math teacher writing impositions while his friends scurried off to the playground. It took away his weekends. It took away his freedom. He somehow completed his schooling, and just managed to escape the fierce clutches of graduation. only just.
He thought he was done with the 'X'. But no, it took no time for him to realize that X is everywhere. It was seen in the faces of his parents, when they were being judgmental. It was seen on his girl friend's face when he was trying to make his first 'move'. It was everywhere, he even used to dream the big 'X'.
The X danced in front of his eyes when he was attempting an interview. The X made him job less. The X sucked the life out of him. If he were to survive this world he needed to solve 'X'.
He took a piece of paper and started solving :
Me X Mistakes = Failure; .................................................. Equation 1
Success= Failure - Mistakes- Fear; ........................................ Equation 2
According to equation 1, Substitute the failure,
Success =(Me X Mistakes)- Mistakes -Fear;
Remove the brackets,
Success= Me X Mistakes- Mistakes -Fear;
Success= Me X -Fear; (Mistakes gets cancelled)
Shift X to left- hand side,
Success- X= Me - Fear;
Supply the 'Hit and Trail' method to above equation,
If Success= Me then X= fear ;
Then it struck him, he solved the X, the real X. It has always been inside him. His fear was his X. His 'fear of the unknown' is the X.
He solved the puzzle of his life time. He realized that nothing mattered anymore. No his parents' rants nor his neighbors' judgmental stares. He suddenly realized, it doesn't even matter if he was employed. He just needed to overcome his fear, for that he has to sail in the uncharted waters, the waters where no one dares to go. He searched for his biggest fear, and after three days of soul searching he finalized his biggest fear. The ocean. Even though he lived in Visakhapatnam (A city that is literally built on the sands of Bay of Bengal), he never went into the ocean. The never even dipped his toe in the sea in all the 23 years since his birth.
That's it! If he were to over come his 'X' he need to win his biggest fear. He need to win the ocean. No not just win it, He need to rule it. He need to rule the sea and everything that comes with it!!
He will do it and that is final!! no matter the consequences. He will move the heaven and earth if necessary. He will wage a war, even if its against the law because he realized that's what it takes to bend the will of ocean's might. The morals are out of question, ethics are not to be weighed in. He will 'do the needful'.
PS: This is a crime symphony. Look up the previous chapters if you were to keep up with the journey.
