Other characters (the one who called on to the fairies):

Sharon

Joanne

******************

******************

Sharon whispered this magical chant while holding a music box in front of her bathroom mirror with lights turned off before going to sleep.

She is summoning something.

******************

"Sharon! Please, let's try this. We won't lose anything if we just try..." Joanne whined at Sharon as they ate their dinner that night.

"Dear, you can always try it alone, and besides, it won't work on me because I don't believe in these things." Sharon shrugged her off.

Joanne sulked in her seat as Sharon didn't bother to cooperate with her fairy tale.

Sharon is never a believer in fairy tales and extraordinary powers and the like ever since she was a kid and that even if Joanne will whine all she wants, she will never be convinced to do just silly magical chants with her.

They might be dorm mates forever, even beyond their college, but she just won't give in to such craziness.

******************

******************

Sharon surprisingly couldn't sleep well that night and Joanne is already snoring.

She decided to get up and planned to read something to help her lull to sleep. That could be weird but that's what Sharon does to help her sleep. Well...

She remembered Joanne sent her a link about the Velvet Fairies whatever she said to her and gave it a try.

That meant however that she read it only for sleep-to-come's sake.

The article falls under a certain website that collates hundreds of urban legends in the world.

It says:

blah blah blah.

Then something caught her.

It also writes that:

Sharon rolled her eyes. "Fairy tales, ya'll." she murmured.

At the bottom part, the magical chant was attached where a note said that it has to be recited every day at 1 AM to have a very positive life everyday.

She then closed the website and prepared to go to sleep as she is already finally sleepy when she saw the clock. It's already 12:45 in the morning

She arched her brows.

She opened the website again and checked the "said" date they are doomed.

She found out it was some type of a riddle.

Sharon counted.

That night is December 22, 2022 and Sharon might be shocked but it is on the 21st or the 22nd in December which is recorded to have the longest night each year, and 2022 is 5000 years going back to 3000 BC.

"Uh, why not give it a try?"

******************

Sharon whispered this magical chant while holding a music box in front of her bathroom mirror with lights turned off before going to sleep.

She is summoning something.

******************

"Luuuucccyyy!" Hussey dubbed the Cold-Blood barge into her leader's room who is currently sleeping. "Why is it my scepter is not working? Some criminal is asking for my help in killing but I can't assist him due to my scepter that is not even lighting."

Lucy, dubbed as the That's Okay Fairy is just saying, "that's okay. You probably just lost a gem to light it. Go find."

Hussey rolled her eyes, her bitterness oozing. "I'm not losing a gem, damn it."

Just then, Judy, the Unhappy also barge into Lucy's room and said, "I don't feel so sad at all, why?"

And a second later, Rue, the Impatient Fay also came. "Look Lucy, I felt everyone is so patient today."

Then, as if on cue, Lia, the Laid-back appeared. "Lucy, I felt compelled to strive for something, why is that?"

Lucy now felt alarmed and blinked her eyes. She remembered the spell they inflicted to the Velvet Fairies.

"Wait, what day is today?"

******************

Sharon, although going to sleep somewhere at 1:15 in the morning due to her trying to recite the magical chant, she felt so energized that she woke up at 5 AM, way ahead of Joanne who is the early bird between the two of them.

She woke Joanne up and the latter, looking at the clock that is still early, asked, "What's with you, Sharon?"

******************

They felt like coming out from an umbilical cord, or coming out from a fog; a mist even. It felt so new for the Velvet Fairies.

"Why does it feel different today?" Bubbly-Yeri, the fairy who is in charge of someone's level of energy for the whole day, asked Joy, the one called Amiable Pixie.

They didn't know that they are lulled to sleep for the past 5000 years.

With her voice still groggy, she replied, "I don't know even. Has the world changed?"

Teddy, the fairy in charge of time management then rushed the others as soon as she woke up saying they still have to manage everyone's schedule on time. "Yow, everyone. Get up, now!"

Wendy, the Agility Fairy who is always in tandem with Teddy, followed suit. "Coming, Teddy."

Irene, the Supremacy Fairy, was already waving her scepter with a golden star at the handle, a sign of excellence, and called on to the four fairies. She then said, "Velvet, let's go fighting!"

******************

Joanne sensed that Sharon is a bit different than the other day.

She was way more enthusiastic, managed her time well, and beaten well at crucial times when their teacher in the online class asked them to solve a difficult Mathematical equation for five minutes only.

She was also so friendly and was even surprised when she was striving for excellence a notch higher that day.

******************

Sharon can't explain why she felt so light that day. It also seemed that the world has gotten better.

Then at 2:50 in the afternoon...

"Sharon? is our clock no longer working?" Joanne called her. Her brows met in the middle. Even the clock in her laptop and her wristwatch altogether stopped, but she remembered.

She smiled.

Velvet Fairies are probably real indeed.
