She closed in on me roaring,
A deep breath and I was beaming.
The breeze took my spirits soaring,
Leaving me with the flying leaves, dreaming!
A thousand balsams blooming,
Brimming along and trembling.
Stretching and streaming while looming,
She was mighty and humbling!
Frothing and sparkling and shining,
The smothering waves went rolling.
Slipping and straining, my muscles whining,
With such a wilderness she was pulling!
Arms spread and pouncing, as if hunting,
Swimming to keep up and I was lagging.
Waving and ebbing, she was taunting,
Giving me a story to keep on bragging!
So wild to be tamed was she flowing,
Jealous I was, of the boats rowing,
Her white curls in the winds, blowing,
The mind - a cloud and kept moving!
