A Letter of Forgiveness to Myself

Dear self of mine,
It's been a while since we talked, since we had a genuine conversation. I hope you're doing well. Last I heard you faced some hurdles which required you to get out of your comfort zone. That's okay because it's relieving. So don't worry about it.
       I know that the past has not been kind to you. You wallow in self loathing and pity because of the incidents and the things you've done. I forgive you for those things. Do you remember, when you were in eighth grade, you left the boxing match in the middle because you were overwhelmed and shit scared. I get it. You still feel embarassed thinking about it. I forgive you for that. Do you also remember the same year when you left the pool in the middle of the race during swimming competition because you were tired. I can understand that. Even to this day you're afraid to swim in deep waters despite knowing swimming. I forgive you for that too.
   I forgive you for not fighting back to bullies when you needed support and didn't have it.I get that no one is ready. I need you to stop being so hard on yourself. To respect your flaws enough to overcome them.No one is perfect in this world. You need to realise that. You need to forgive yourself for all the mistakes you've made.
       Forgiveness is the key to self acceptance. We fall so that we can learn to pick ourselves up. Forgiving yourself will allow you to accept who you are as a person and what you stand for. That way you take one step closer to becoming who you are.
