A Mirage in the Desert

"She has surpassed all heights of Shamelessness, " exclaimed one of her dear one whom she considered to be her closest friend.  "It's not love, simply her sexual desires that have made her appear to be a woman of base morals",said the one for whom she used to visit the hospital when nobody cared to take care.   Suppressed giggles, judgemental looks and scornful comments at first used to torment her badly and a tear or two used to find a way down her cheeks, but now she feels bad but has learnt to hide her pain.

She was just soaking the happiness of motherhood when Destiny with it's cruel plans snatched away the father of her child. Some sympathized with her, some showed pity while some called her a jinx. She knew she had to shoulder the responsibility of both parents of her child bravely. She tried every possible means to protect her child from the harsh treatment of the society, she made up her mind not to make herself a body to be pitied but a strong woman to be looked up to.

She was just 29 when she was abandoned by her loved ones but she knew she had a life to look after. She wanted to raise her daughter to be an independent, fearless woman. Her struggle to be both parents was tough.Men came after her like greedy dogs some camouflaged as her well wisher while others promised her their surname. But nobody really cared to look into her eyes which had the depth of sorrow imbedded in them.Nobody bothered to touch her soul and be her healer, all they saw was a young vulnerable woman whom they wanted to colonize and display as their proud possession.

She worked hard, got herself a job to support herself and give good education to her daughter. She found a helping hand approaching to her who didn't want anything in return. He was like a messenger of goodness. He didn't question her or force her to anything. His tenderness and sense of responsibility towards them raised many eyebrows.People started gossiping, some passed cheap remarks, others made fun of them.

Some of her dear friends were the first ones to engage in the gossip about her, some questioned her character while some called her a whore. But nobody stood by her on  those cruel nights when her daughter cried in fever,or when she needed to go to work leaving behind her child alone at home.Nobody cared to ask her if she needed anything except him.

At first she tried to defend herself but soon she realized that they were too dainty to understand the depth of this friendship which was larger than the highest tides. She understood that she will be questioned no matter how hard she tried to defend herself but she knew she was lucky to find a well in the midst of the large barren Desert...
