An Useless Conversation Between Man and God

Info

START

[It was in the afternoon, the day was progressing as it should, the heat was unbearable, the majority of people were trying to avoid walking in the sun. Amidst all this sat a middle-aged woman who looked much older than she actually was, on the scorching road, alone, without shelter, mumbling to herself, sometimes crying but mostly sat silent staring at the sun till she laid her eyes on a young lady who was walking on the road with her 3 year old son, most probably out of absolute necessity for nobody would want to expose themselves and their young ones to such a violent weather. A smile broke out on the woman’s face, she stood up and went near the young lady and said politely, “Omaa ki sundoor go tomar bacha ta, amar kole ektu debe? Daona go daona”. Obviously, this made the young lady very uncomfortable and she attempted to walk away from the woman trying to hide her son. But the woman insisted, and kept following her, soon this led to a scene as the lady pushed the woman away, gathering a crowd, all of which started to forcibly moved that woman away from such a public place for as we know, such ‘Unfortunate, people’ have no right to cause distress in the daily lives of common people.]

Him – It’s her daily routine, she lost her sanity after the death of her own son, she sits in the sun all day, chasing people with little kids, wanting to interact with them and more often than not gets beaten up by the crowd or forced out the place. All thanks to you.

Him – That is not what I meant to do.

Him – So you are implying that you are incompetent of foreseeing the consequences of your actions?

Him – What do you want from me?

Him – An explanation would do.

Him – Of what?

Him – Of your “plan” of course.

Meanwhile the woman found shelter elsewhere, she sat alone crying, screaming at anyone who came near. Those of good heart dropped a few pennies near her, those with excess goodness offered her food, but she refused to eat, it was like nothing of this world mattered to anymore.

Him – Why do you think some people are offering her food?

Him – Out of goodwill maybe>

Him – No.

Him – Then?

Him – None of them honestly give a damn about what happens to her, but they still do it, it is because men, above all are led by fear.

Him – Fear of what?

Him – You.

Him – Doesn’t she have a family? Anyone who loves her?

Him – Apparently no, not anymore.

Him – Why did they exile her?

Him – No, one fine day when she still had her sanity, she left, and never returned. [Pause] You seem to have a great deal of interest in her past, come let me take you to her husband.

They arrived in middle of a modest neighborhood the appearance of which screamed how overly educated, cultured and mediocre its occupants were.

Him – I have to say I didn’t expect this.

Him – Why? Is there any law that unfortunate woman must have equally insane unfortunate husbands?

Him – I always thought so.

The two followed as a middle-aged man, who too for some unknown reason looked younger than he actually was, came out of his transport and started walking. He reached his house, unlocked the front door, only to find his house in a complete mess. He breathed an extended sigh. He went into one of the rooms, turned on the light. There sat an old woman with greyed hair and wrinkled face. He said softly, “Ma, haven’t I told you not to do these things? These would only make you more upset”, “So what the woman shouted, I don’t want to be happy! I want to go away to be with my beloveds”, on hearing this the man sat down, held her hand and said, “You have to let go of the past Ma, they are not here anymore, but life has to go on, the show must go on.” On hearing this, the woman became furious, started banging her own head on the wall till blood started coming out, her son started to stop her but she instead bit her son so hard that it left a large mark in his hand. He was forced to use sedatives to calm her and continued.

Him – I assume [Interrupted]

Him – Please don’t, you are really bad at assumptions.

Him – Who is this woman?

Him – His mother

Him – Why is she [Interrupted]

Him – Same reason as the first one, dead children drive people insane.

The man, tired of his endless work eventually sat down and indulged himself with alcohol. After having 2-3-4-5 eventually 6 glasses, he went into another room.

Him – Hey look, they have a statue of you.

Him – But that is not how I look!

Him – Well, nobody really knows how you look, but everyone loves to have imitations of you literally everywhere. In fact, there are wars going on the sole topic of which is your appearance.

The man sat down near the idol and started spitting on it, he continued doing it for quite some time till he got up and went to have dinner and feed his mother.

Him – Seriously? What did I do?

Him – Well, to start, you killed his son.

Him – Stop

Him – He claims that he doesn’t believe that you are real, he is really angry with what you did to him, and thus his actions.

Him – But how can someone be angry with me and believe that I am inexistent at the same time.

Him – Well, maybe only you know the answer to that.

Him – This place is really gloomy.

Him – You are right, let’s go somewhere else.

They arrived in the house of a well settled family of three living a continent away from the man. A little girl was having breakfast along with her mother while going through her old photos. She came across the photo of her, then a girl of three years in the lap of a young boy. “Who is she Mumum? She asked curiously.” “He is your cousin”, answered the mother. “Why don’t I see him around?” she asked. “It is because he is not with us anymore” replied the mother, “Then, where is he?”, “He is with God”, “How do you know? Did you see God take him? Where can I meet him and God?”, “Sweetheart, stop asking meaningless questions and complete your breakfast quickly, else you are going to get late for school.”

Him – It was a valid question don’t you think? How really is she supposed to meet you?

Him – Well, she just has to wait.

Him – Well, as my wait is already over, I made a promise in my existence, that when we finally meet, I will give you a chance to explain yourself, you better start for this is going to be a long story.

Both of them, stood there with nothing but silence on their faces, He expected an answer but He was unable to provide it. It made Him question His existence even though none of the two actually existed. Anymore.
