British Visionary Artist, ‘Degard’ Talks About the Divine Essence of Creating Art

The contemporary, visionary artist and painter hailing from London has a unique notion about art and the process of its creation. Degard RCA, FRSA, is an artist creating a revolution in thought about art.

Being a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Degard assisted in launching the Contemporary Visionary Art movement at an exhibition at The Royal College of Art, Quintessence of Consciousness.

Degard’s masterpieces are praised and included in public and private collections, including the Royal family in Oman. She is also a published author and wrote an essay on Aetheric Energy: the Intangible Source of Human Celebrity? in 2018. Below, the remarkable artist joins us in conversation to reveal her journey as one visionary artist believing in ‘Aetheric Energy’ and how the process of creating art, be it painting, or writing is divine.

Degard reveals that “it all began with a blinding flash of light, or all the more explicitly recognizing a blue square in front of the chest area of someone who was chairing a meeting she attended two decades ago. “I had been noticing these flashes of light, energies for my entire life, and I could never figure them out. However, on this day after when I saw 'the blue square,' it all made sense when my companion at the meeting said, "isn't it fabulous he is doing this work, given that the chairmen recently had triple by-pass surgeries! This was all it! My a-ha moment,” she says. “I understood this 'blue square' was 'the memory in process’ – I re-term today aetheric energy – of this operation—Square for human surgical effect, this blue for profound and massive healing. The size and position dictated by the spot of the incision,” she adds.

From that point onwards, Degard embarked on a journey to find evidence from others in the current society for this knowledge and found it is lost knowledge, known by everybody through 'vibe' and 'karma' and portrayed in its perplexity, by nobody. “I'm a painter who passionately discusses the divine in art. The aura is conscious in your memory, your consciousness around you – your contemplations, your convictions, your actions, and the aetheric energies influencing you, throughout your life,” says Degard.

Degard shares that there is something majestic about art that invites us to be different. “The moment we make something, regardless of whether we're painting, or writing a book, or designing something for our homes, we're bringing something lovely and sacred up and out of ourselves to impart to the world, and the world is better for it,” she says.

The creation is a cycle in itself. The cycle of creation transforms us, for it requires something of us. It expects us to dig deep inside ourselves, to confront the things we'd preferably overlook, to defy our internal brokenness as well as the magnificence stored up within. The process of creation makes us braver, bolder and makes us more liberated as the split between what our identity is and our general surroundings appears to grow thinner.

Degard shares that at the point when we make artwork, we participate in the flow of creation. We draw out the best, most wonderful pieces of ourselves and offer this to the world. When our creation emerges from us, it extends beyond us.

“There's something within you — something interestingly yours that you're exceptionally gifted to impart to the world. It's an unnerving cycle creating that thing and afterward putting it in plain view.’ concludes Degard.
