There wasn't much of excitement as she heard the news. She continued to do her work. Ritu was a hard working employee, simple and calm by nature who dint speak to anyone much and used to meet the deadlines well before hand. People felt she had to much of pride that isn't part of the group. 

That day she was alone at her desk and lost in thoughts. Suddenly she broke into tears. These silent tears were always with her which none noticed. But that day, the person who was passing by, had a sight of it. 

Suddenly voice from behind said, " Is everything alright, Ritu?"

Ritu turned out and found it was Mili, a person who was exactly opposite to her. Mili was bubbly , charming and friend to all in the office. People loved talking to her, asking help and sharing their experience. There wasn't a single person who doesn't no her at work.

"I won the award but I am not happy. I work so that I keep myself busy. Its not that i have so much pride ,I am scared to talk to people. I wasn't allowed to express myself and I was told I was wrong at every stage. And there are many lows in my life because of which I became calm. Sometimes I envy you, wish I could be like you... free and independent."

" HAHAHAHA.. be like me ???? you must be joking!!! I wish i was so dedicated like you..."

Ritu got puzzled for a while. Mili continued to clarify

" I wanted to work like you. Be the star of the company. Meet the deadlines and on time in office."

"But what about the way you present yourself??"

" The way I present myself is by my choice. Its not that I never had a low phase in my life. everyone has faced everything at some point of time, but I choose to learn from it , develop from the happenings and evolve as a person who is standing in front of you. Its your life and you need to choose how it has to be. If you feel to be independent just be independent and YES you will be independent "

from that day Ritu changed her view of life and her choice too...
