1. 60% of teenage deaths in the United States are due to alcohol.

2. 40% of all car accidents in the country involve teens.

With the results this alarming, something needs to be definitely done. Here are a few effective steps urging society, traders, parents and educators to step ahead and combat the problem of teen drunk driving.

The Genuine Trade:

The store sellers at the liquor stores can make a huge difference. Selling alcohol to minors is a well-known federal crime. However, it is not followed religiously in the majority of cities, which pertains to drunk driving among teens.

A conscious effort towards this can help stop alcohol consumption by minors to a great extent. The law of ID verification must be taken far more seriously by the shopkeepers.

An Attempt From Parents:

The teens when drunk, are many a times conscious of the risk of driving. However, most of them are confronted by their parents in an embarrassing manner. This can be dealt with in a different manner. The parents and the kids can agree upon a mutual understanding.

The parents must agree not to question the children until they feel comfortable for any such queries. On the other hand, the children must keep up the promise to ask a safe ride back home, just in case the situation demands so. Respecting each other’s part of the agreement is the most needed aspect in a relationship.

Educate The Survival Experiences:

The teens are well aware of the consequences of drunk driving, or they have already heard about such instances at the least. But an uncontrolled accident figure reveals that such an education does not forbid teens from drinking. Moving a step forward, they can be introduced to the survivors of drunken driving accidents.

Listening to the first-hand experience of the horrendous incidents can be both alarming as well as life-changing to these teenagers. This can be in a college campus or a public place, where most of the audience consists of teenagers. However, if none of these works, they may need DUI counseling.

A Responsible Behavior:

Drinking is bad, driving after drinking is dangerous. There is a need for the teenage drivers to understand this. During the college term or the long holidays, partying goes hand in hand with the curriculum. Getting drunk gets more common as the parties get frequent.

However, a little responsibility at the teenager’s part can keep the situation within the limits. Not drinking beyond a limit and not driving after getting drunk are the two promises they must keep at all costs.

The community can contribute in making a major difference to this serious issue. Responsibility owned by each and every individual can bring these figures down drastically.
