Dear "Him",
You are a word that has taken on many faces.
Many voices.
Many daydreams.
Many wishes.
And many heartaches.
You were the stand-in that filled the blank spaces.
The filler for names that my chords refused to sing.
The simple uttering of memories that threaded together the tame and the reckless.
The catalyst that made me hate myself every moment of every day.
You were the victim of stray tears as they dampened my papers.
The blood that flowed through my fingers as I wrote of buried pasts.
The lone symbol of eons worth of hopeless fantasies that spanned mere seconds;
minutes;
nights.
You were their presence amidst their absence.
The echo that torturously carried their names.
The heartbeat that oscillated between fast and slow.
The nothing that demanded to be felt.
"Him", you were them all.
All the people I loved.
All the people I lost.
All the people I remember.
All the people who're gone.
And you're the only one who decided to stay.
