Empty Words

And now we talk like strangers,
like we just met in the street that I don't even remember.
And it honestly did not feel good,
It felt like there's a hole deep down in my soul.
And suddenly I understand why some people choose not to talk,
It's to avoid the pain from those empty words.
I never had much expectations about us,
For they say expectations will bring pain in your heart.
But never did I think​ that we will end up like this,
And feel the same pain expectations could have brought.
And now the only choice you've left me
Is to walk away from the memories we had.
