Flowers For You

Info

In two days, hearts will fill the sky, clouds will go crimson red, the sun will lit the world with the rule of Venus, and love will be in the air going from places to places across the globe. The language of people will be of a lover’s tongue, devouring short but millions of sonnets to be exchanged and a 24-hour playback of love songs, and the hands and feet will glide with romanticism. However, never would these sweet deeds of lovey-doveys shelter the whole world for where do broken hearts would go? As a part of the broken population, bittered by the sweet nothings we’ve once acquainted ourselves but come to hate as they’d gone by, I would be into sharing, three fourth amiable and a teeny-weeny pinch of despise, of plans that could be taken into doing on that fateful-for-some-ungrateful-to-many day of Cupid.

The arrows must have missed me more times than Cupid’s bow attempted to draw it to me or whoever he plans to struck a love from me, which I think might have missed him as well. It’s frustrating, infuriating even, when you are isolated from group dates and the shimmering My Days of red roses and heart-shaped boxes of chocolates are no more dreadful than a mundane My Day spending time with your bed. It’s more heart breaking by itself than letting yourself be broken by someone.

So, here’s the thing you’ve been gritting on, you actually haven’t been a part with such scenarios. No one had ever treated you the way your friends’ boyfriends treat them in sneakingly touches of hands, little but grin-filled conversations shared within cafeterias and malls, a movie watch in cinemas, and allowance not notched down due to the foods they’re boyfriends had made themselves broke for. You have the days all by yourself and your mind is still debating whether there’s a good point of being “forever alone” or apparently none.

But, it’s big a no-no for you to say no when I’m going to ask, aren’t you jealous with your friends and those couples? Come on, I’ve been there and is still residing there at that individuality zone so I know you better than anyone else. Don’t try to mask it with bitter sympathy you’ve always put for a show-off to status labels of Single, Complicated, and Moving On, just so you can say relationships are not worth the effort and you’d better be off without it. Partly true though, I can’t argue, but I know you’ve been fantasizing about the feeling those unlike you gets with the people they hang out with. So, it is not recommendable to pretend you never had an interest for having such what they call “love life” because as human and as teenager – the kind of species commonly affected by that stage – as we are, we want it, truth be told.

And so, what I am trying to tell you, now in the rushing days heading to that Valentine’s day, is admit you want a date. You want to be treated like how your friends’ other halves treat them, although do not get your hopes high because unfortunately, it’s another way around with you. I’m not telling you to pick up a random guy you see sitting alone in the cafeteria, or that peculiar one walking solo along the street or someone just you happen to bump in the shoulders with. It is not also nice to see a desperate girl flaunting herself for a rent on a one-day date. Who would want such dignity be tramped down to a disgrace?

Then now, you’re asking, what drink could drive away that bitter taste and how are you suppose to drink it by yourself when you need a drink buddy? That’s the norm. Everyone thinks Valentine’s should be spent with a member from the opposite sex lingering next to you. I’m saying is, it’s not only a dose of sweets (although highly nominated to be listed on the food list) you need but treat yourself the way you want to be treated with the things you wanted. It might look like a pathetic self-love for paired people who thinks they have the day for themselves better than you do, but swat their cares away if it would already fulfill you enough to go on for the day that you should be hating when you’d finally bought ten books which were pending on your book list. Take yourself inside cafes you’ve always been curious to step your feet into and eat their delicacies, recipes and food whatever that had been crazed on in Twitter. Drink all the way down from your throat to your esophagus the taste you badly wanted to be driven away with some Slurpee and Gulps in 7 Eleven. Still let your ears be attuned to the mellifluous music of love and its words. Read Shakespeare’s Sonnets if you must so put a cherry on top. Regale yourself with the foods and drinks you wanted your mouth to taste because that much happiness can be acquired only if you’d have yourself to follow in the course of the day. Although not implying that couples won’t have any share of the joy but they would also, only that we ought to have different ways to fill ourselves goodness on that day.

Still not enough? Don’t you worry, you hopeless heart. If building a masterpiece takes time, so do good things deserve a wait. Someday, in the very of day of February 14th, someone will call you to pick you up, open the doors and say, “Flowers for you!” However, in this year’s February 14th, that knocks on the door with the flowers behind not happening yet just suggests you still have a long stretched time ahead of you so take it gradually. That’s why in two days, buy yourself red roses along the church streets and as crazy as this would sound but cheer yourself up as your reflection in the mirror says, “Flowers for you!”, yet dear, just for now. Give yourself something well before he comes, but only for now.
