God is Hot!

God is Hot! And isn't it about time? Actually, I am referring to articles, books, TV shows and movies on religious topics. Right now they are all hot. Sought after. At one time Christian publishers scoffed at spiritual fiction and said no one would buy it. That was before Frank Peretti and Tim LeHaye. The Left Behind Series topped best-seller charts for months. Passion of the Christ, Chronicles of Narnia and The Tip of the Spear have all been popular and profitable movies. It is safe to say most media moguls have been more motivated by profit than prophets. In the 50s and 60s there were a few biblical epics like Ben Hur, Exodus and The Robe.

Considering the numbers of professed Christians in America, religious material has been in short supply in bookstores, television shows and movies. At any given time one can find five or six "Chick Flicks" in the theaters and a plethora of edgy, provocative sitcoms on TV. Good spiritual fare is a bit trickier to find.

If you have always wanted to write a strong Christian action novel or a solid faith-based script for movies or movies about spiritual enlightenment , now is the time to tackle it. Publishers, both fiction and non-fiction, magazines, stage and film producers and agents are all paying closer attention to religious manuscripts today.

Know the market, query whenever possible, but get busy on that project as soon as you can.Tides change and moods change, but a good story with a spiritual message can become eternal.
