In That Moment

Info

In that moment where everything was uncertain.

In that moment where everything seemed bleak.

In that moment where everything was a cliché.

In that moment, that’s where I found you.

There I was, standing at the door of the infamous café at the end of 21st street, when I saw you again with your silky black hair and your sparkling eyes. Your smile was beyond perfection as your canine showed. Your laugh was soft, yet flirtatious. Perhaps it was just me, but it attracted my attention. Among your friends, you shined the brightest. Among the people I had met and will meet, you were the one. I just knew it. That was what I thought. But to you, I wasn’t. Not the one, not the second, nor any of the numbers to infinity. You didn’t even know me. I was just this stranger who coincidentally went into the coffee shop with you that one rainy morning.

I remembered how beautiful you were despite your damp hair and drenched coat. Even though things seemed like they weren’t going your way, you still smiled. You didn’t mind. You stayed positive. After you placed your wet umbrella on the stand beside the door, you went to the counter and ordered a hot coffee to keep you warm—to keep you company. Upon laying your moist coat on your chair, you looked at the door. After sitting down, you looked again. Then you kept on glancing at the door every once in a while. It was like you were expecting for something. Better yet—someone. Despite your constant gazes at the door, you didn’t seem exasperated. You waited patiently.

Now, here I am, gazing at you patiently from across the corner where we seemed like worlds apart. Here I am looking at you, hoping for a chance. But I knew life wasn’t fair. It didn’t matter whether we met or had a conversation. It won’t matter. It never will. The first time I met you was the instance I fell in love. However, on that rainy day, when the small bell hanging on the door knob rang and your face lit up as soon as the man set foot inside the coffee shop, I already knew.

In that moment where everything became certain.

In that moment where everything came into light.

In that moment where everything is a cliché.

In that moment, that’s where he found you.
