The inseperable

"I love you", he whispered in her ear. A faint smile sprang up on her beautiful, perfect lips.
"I love you too", she said, in an almost inaudible whisper, with a hint of shyness.

They did not kiss, they did not hug. They just stood there, at what seemed to be the most beautiful hill in the whole world, holding hands, looking into each other's eyes. It was love. They both knew it. They could feel it, as they both had hoped.

They lay there. Holding hands. Now staring up at the stars, marvelling at how perfect it was finally. This was the feeling of divine unity and one-ness. Not with "God" or the "One true Power", but with another human soul. A soul so different, yet so similar. Those two hands wrapped around each other, signified that unbreakable and inseparable bond that was love.

Love. They had found it. "The one" person you wait your whole life to find, right beside you, with whom you can spend the rest of your life. The one person who has a special place in your life and a special place in their heart for you and who needs you as much as you need them. A perfect relationship is what everyone looks for. Why? Why a perfect relationship? If a simple fight can end it all, then is it love? We all know the answer. But should love have to necessarily happen at first sight? Is it right of us to expect that? Why not let it form over time? Is it wrong of us to do that, to work to achieve that perfect form of love? I don't think its wrong. Rather, its being realistic.

They had realised this long back. They had let it form over time. And now, they still lay there. 50 years into marriage. Still so young at heart. Now both counting their last breaths. Still holding hands. Life slowly departing from two so different bodies, to merge into one. Those two souls bond by love, still unable to seperate, now beginning the journey to a different realm, to preserve the bond for eternity.
