I feel cold. The cold seems to encase me in a shell I can't free myself from. Slowly, I open my eyes, revealing a small room. The walls and floor are blank except for a single, bare lightbulb dangling above me. I sit up and wrap my arms around my bare body, shivering. I try to stand but, feel a tug on my leg. A ball and chain have been attached to my ankle, preventing me from moving. I crawl closer to it, hoping for some warmth. I sit there and try to remember how I got here. What actions did I take to lead me here? I can't remember anything from before I woke. I begin to cry. Am I all alone? Who stripped me of my clothes and left me here? Where is my family? The tears seem to flood out of me. My head spins with more questions. Where am I? Is there food and water? Can I get some clothes or at least a blanket? I wipe the tears from my face with the back of my hand. I allow my arms once again to wrap around me. I burrow my face in my knees. I can feel my hair drape over my back like a blanket. I allow it fall all over my body as a thin blanket. I drift off into a dream-less sleep.
I awake some hours later to find clothed and water lying before me. I don't understand. Who would kidnap me, then take care of me?
