Masterpiece

"And how many more truths are you going to dismiss in your obsession to create that one masterpiece.This isn't a movie,not a soundtrack of lootera, not a O Henry story and yes not everything needs to have a twisted end. Stop having fascination with me ,with incomplete things in life."
He said proudly smoking the last cigarette of the day, while  I watched him inhale  a step  closer to  our incomplete story - at the background of which layed an untouched  notebook  of places we planned to visit , unrepentant last minute cancelled plans, a book stained of maggie that had too much water and wasn't eaten ,half truths ,more lies.A half left discussion on post modernist theories because the pseudo meta truth made us realise our fading story
.. And then he asks why this fascination with the incomplete? Amrita Pritam had an incomplete story ,you know she sipped the fallen cigarettes of a man she loved, in the hope to find him back in those  pieces when he left her,until the bud left her feeling empty all over again. She didn't mask her hopelessness ,just like you didn't mask your hollow heart when you told me " people leave ,that's how it goes ,we need to be prepared for it." But when people leave and more specifically when you would leave I wonder if your absence would create a void overall in my life or make me miss you in bits and pieces just like Pritam did. "She had a wretched story" ,you remarked in early days when I told you about her life. For you it was funny.So maybe I won't try finding you in bits and pieces of your last ashed cigarette but I may long for hope in the haze of your mouthed "Don't ask me to stay." You see
You are half the creator of this incomplete story - things of pain and longing amuse you just like me so you plan to leave by blaming me for creating unrealistic incomplete endings.
No matter what you say , lootera will play again, O Henry will create a twisted longing of two hearts that never meet ,I'll bask in my loneliness and fill the voids,with words and art just what Pritam did -my  won't be a wretched story as you thought but all this will happen -Without you and with your absence , I'll create my new masterpiece.
