That put a painful smile on my face,
As the skin from the corners of my dry mouth
Tore up and bled just a little;
That gave me miraculous strength
To crawl and push a little harder
To keep my eyes from shutting forever;
That stirred a renewed will in me,
And gave me hope to be quenched
And saved from the scorching heat-
But,
I see now...
