One Step at a Time

Step 1, I'm reminded of you,

It's something I need to do.

But someday they'll leave too,

Just like the rest of you.

Step two, I'm crying yet again,

When will it stop, I don't know,

but my efforts will one day show,

How I can finally let go.

Step three, I still have your things,

I still keep the couple keychain,

The love letter written in pain,

But someday, none of it will remain.

Step four, I adored what you gave,

The hugs, kisses and necklace,

promises to take me to a lovely place,

But especially, your haunting, smiling face.

Step five, I remembered you again,

During our anniversary,

Didn't we swear our own ceremony?

You were more than just special to me.

Step six, I'm now officially letting you go,

Not because I don't love you,

But because I still do,

Even if it's hard to continue.

One step at a time, I continue to grow,

With every step, I engraved a scar,

Throwing my soul a lil too far,

And collecting my heart in a jar.
