First things first. Let your man be the man. Most women take the wheel and be in control of everything. He is supposed to be your leader and you are his suitable helper, not a nagging dictator.
One fact about men is that they love challenges. So don't feel responsible to make everything so easy for him. He was born to overcome challenges. Don't spoonfeed him. Let him experience obstacles. Give him the opportunity to grow.
Be that suitable helper who has a firm stand in Godly principles. Don't think that your stand might turn him off. Never compromise. If you want a righteous man who will lead you closer to the Lord, he will actually find you much more attractive for taking that stand. Be a channel of blessing, not a cause of distraction.
Yes, set your standards. Align them with what the Lord wants for you. But remember to be realistic, not idealistic. Your man, like you, has flaws and weaknesses. No matter how perfect you think he is, he's just like you; imperfect. He sometimes forgets important dates, your friends' names or your favorite perfume. He overlooks some details. He gets tired. He feels stress. He longs for encouragement. He appreciates compliments. That's why he needs a suitable helper. You are his home. You are his best friend. You can remind him. Rebuke him. Correct him. Motivate him. Inspire him. Spend time to pray for him and pray with him.
