There was once a pen, there was once a sword
Fighting for one thing they both were hard
The sword was strong, the sword was swift
The pen was lost somewhere in this drift
The sword when shine- the people applaud
At which point the pen could only plod
The sword was tough
The pen-gentle
When they saw the sword their hearts would tremble,
The pen devoid of this stardom still travelled till fathoms
The pen knew his strengths although-
Where the sword would pace up your heart
The pen had a comeback/could make you laugh with a witty remark
But I wonder what business the pen ever had with the sword
Neither of them had ever exchanged a word
But fight they did, like the bitter enemies of a cold war
The question I ask you ladies and gentlemen is- How could the pen ever face the sword?
For whatever he may do the pen knew its chances were slim
So they did what they did best
And for long they bled
For the one thing they cared
The sword in the field
And the pen on the sheet
Until their time was up, when they bid a happy farewell
But who did win in the end- the little pen or the mighty sword?
Well the answer is already engraved in our past:
-With time the luster fades away, with time the edge blunts out
With time its only the words that remain
And that is why the pen beat the sword.
