The Blue Rose

Info

They were in the bunkers

Preparing for the war that was long due

The winter was coming and it would bring with itself the dreaded red hue

Distractions were unaffordable

Concentration being the only key

Their commander, he fired strategies

For four hours daily

Some wanted to excel, others wanted to flee

Well he was one of those ones who wanted to bleed

The pressure was high, there was no margin for error

Some broke down not able to take the terror

Cursing the world for what they were becoming

No one had a clue what was coming

While the world saw them as the saviors with high collars

Only they knew how they kept the borders

In all this he remembered the last day-

Some had their families, some had their mum

Others were bidding farewells to their special someone

Friends, family well he had none

Amongst them stood he the lonely soul dumb

He was not sad

Neither did he feel bad

Instead jolly, seeing his comrades holly

The master pulled the whistle

The engine steamed out loud with a grizzle

He boarded the train slow, sweat suddenly dripping his brow

Why had she not come? He remembered clearly telling her of his adventure

His stomach turned to knots

Mind all filled with her thoughts

Why had he missed his chance

He must have told her-with her he forever wanted to dance

For the soldier who once swore never to back down

When she walked in had fallen hard on the ground

It was not her face it was not her smile

Instead she took him by her eyes

He had seen numerous pretty faces

And resisted the temptation

And only when he thought he was invincible

Did this cruel thing happen?

It was not lust, he never mentally measured her bust

But he understood to have her was must

He was a fine chap, just too sincere sometimes

Only wanted to take her out to dine

So he would run, he would burn

To see her every morning at the chapel

He tried to talk to her sometimes

Not being good at it, he failed each time

He would create situations

At night his mind would play her animations

He even brought her a blue rose once

But to give it to her was beyond his guts

So he laid it on the sill and left

But he never did give up

For he wanted to love her so much

Alas! he had to go, for when the duty calls

You don’t raise the brow

So what- he would tell her

When at last he would return

And so they fought brave, they fought hard

Not before long their enemy was taught

They had a great victory

Poets would write all about their glory

And so at last he did return at last

But packed neatly in THE BOX

21 shells fell like big boulders on the ground

With all the blessings, with all the dressings he departed to the other world

People came and paid their respects all day

Among them stood a sobbing silhouette

Close to her bosom she held the same blue rose……
