I remember it.
All of it.
I remember the smiles I used to give—
genuine, kind.
Forgiving.
I don’t know what happened.
I don’t know where that “me” went.
Remember.
Remember.
Remember.
That’s what I tell myself everyday.
I have accepted that she’s long gone,
but I don’t know who I am anymore,
so I try to remember.
I remember the days where I knew love existed.
I remember the hope it gave me.
I remember knowing who I loved,
and what I loved.
And I still do—
love them, I mean.
Breathe…
I remember.
And a tear drops to the ground,
then more.
I remember.
And I laugh.
I have redeemed myself.
Saved myself from thousands of days full of pain.
I’m happy now;
my heart is in peace,
and so is my soul.
