Cracking jokes in the midst of a random night –

Deafening silence surrounds me.

Clock’s short hand’s pointed to 2,

Long one’s near 11.

Everyone must be asleep,

Yet here I am,

Chuckling for the first time in a long while.

How ridiculous this night seems to be –

I feel strange.

I don’t know.

This is not one of those nights I used to have before.

Still, we're here –

Trying hard to make each other laugh.

Jokes are spilled,

All cards are out.

Rejecting each other’s lines, saying we’ve heard it all before.

Saying they aren't funny,

even if they really are.

For a moment, I’ve realized,

Silence was gone.

My room’s no longer grey.

Indeed, it wasn’t one of my nights before

Because for the first time in a long while,

I have decided to talk with someone I really don’t know.

I was able to laugh again

And feel that I’m still alive.

It was a real power coming from a stranger.

And right then, I knew,

I still have my heart with me,

Right here in my chest –

Beating fast, really fast.

I was hoping for more nights with you and with your jokes.

And let me laugh as hard as I want to.

Tell me stories at 2 in the morning until it's sunrise.

We'll laugh hard.

Perhaps by then, we'll start to love life.
