Taken for granted.

Info

Sometimes in life  you meet people who are meant to be in your heart but not in your life. The story is about Rohit and Preeti who were in relationship for 8 long years and broke up due to current circumstances.

Its been 8 months Rohit and Preeti broke up. The main reason for their break up being is Rohit found a new job and shifted to a different city. They were in a long distance relationship because of which Rohit was not able to sort his priorities. New friends, new lifestyle and daily misunderstandings with Preeti. He started behaving rudely with her.Preeti has never seen Rohit behave that way. Times heals everything but in this scenario the misunderstandings were in a peak stage so the couple decided to break up.Post breakup, Preeti was in depression and was trying to be in solitude to overcome. Meanwhile, Preeti's parents wanted her to get married and started enrolling in the matrimony website. One fine day Preeti's parents found a suitable match for her and informed her about it. Preeti has not moved on completely but agreed to meet the person keeping her parents in mind. Rohit was trying to work on his career and made a couple of friends at workplace. Preeti was asked to meet Angad( The Groom). Angad seemed to be a very soft spoken, decent and well educated guy. All the family members were very happy and satisfied to meet Angad. Angad requested if he can talk to Preeti in private. Preeti did not feel right about cheating Angad and told him about her past relationship. Angad appreciated Preeti for being honest and accepted to marry her whole heartedly. Preeti also accepted the proposal as she was grateful to find a man who would accept her after knowing her past. Preetis parents started informing everyone about the wedding including Rohit's family. Rohit's dad was a close family friend. He informed Rohit to attend the wedding. After Rohit heard this he was shattered. There was nothing which could be done right now. He tried calling Preeti but she was not in a position to answer any of his calls. He started regretting his life. Later he decided to attend her wedding at any cost.

Finally here comes the D day. i.e. wedding day of Preeti and Angad.

Everyone busy getting dressed up and finally the bride and groom show up on the stage. People are obsessed with photographs and congratulating the couple. Preeti and Angad seemed to be happy and feeling blessed about marrying each other.

Rohit and his family came and congratulated the couple.

Rohit: Hi Preeti congratulaitons

Preeti : Thanks Rohit. How are you? You've become very busy after moving to a new state

Rohit: Yes I've been so busy that I ruined most important relationships of my life.

Preeti: Hey rohit ! meet Angad. He is working at a MNC and has completed his graduation from Rutgers.

Angad: Hey Rohit. Hope you are doing good. Ive heard a lot about you man.( Sarcastically)

Rohit: Hey Angad. I am doing fine. Thats great. ( In a raised tone)

Preeti: Rohit lets take a picture together

Rohit: Sure!

After the photograph

Rohit: Congratulations guys! See you later! Bye

Preeti: Bye Rohit. See you.

Angad: Bye bro.

Rohit felt broke. He wasn't able to convey what he felt about Preeti. All these years he felt Preeti belongs to him whatever the situation is finally she will accept everything and come back to him but that was not the case. In life we cannot take people for granted especially feelings of our loved ones matter the most in life. We all are busy in the fast paced environment but let's make sure each and everyone of us make time for our loved ones, friends and family.

Awesome writing!! Well said, its true how people now a days take others for granted without understanding what situation they will end up into. In this case, Rohit didnt even realize or think about getting back to Preethi. Preethi has done a good job choosing other guy.
This is what happening in the world.. We shouldn’t take anything for granted, especially the feelings of the loved ones.. Spending few minutes daily with them wouldn’t affect our life goals.. Well written Nandini.. Bravo ??
