Taking Chances

Info

Real friends are hard to come by. Should have known better because I learned the hard way.
And if there were things I realized, friendship comes in bizarre forms and various medium.

Time and distance does not justify it.

You could have known someone for all your life but still they might end up someone whom you never thought they will be. A stranger.

You could be sitting close to someone and yet they were far gone, somewhere out of reach, and no matter how much you try  to keep pulling the rope binding you both still, it ended up to be the same rope that has been choking you both. So let it go, you must. No matter how hard it is sometimes.

You could only know someone for days and yet sometimes you feel as though you’ve known them since forever.

And it’s okay. It’s okay to be afraid. It’s okay to doubt, are they here to stay or are they just like those buses in the bus stop? Someone who’ll leave you in a drop of a hat?

When you’ve been betrayed by someone you thought will never leave you, I think you earned the license to be someone who’s mindful, someone who don’t trust so easily, someone who’s wary of people coming into your life.

So how would you know the people you call friends are permanent or they are just temporary.

Sadly, you cannot be too sure because there were things that is beyond our control.

But temporary or not here’s a question only you could answer:

If you met someone, someone who’s willing to keep up with you even in the lowest moment of your life
Someone who’ll still try to make you smile, lend their shoulder, give their hand whenever you feel like drowning
Someone who’ll knock the senses out of you whenever you’re being stupid
Someone who insist to stay, even when you keep on pushing them away
Someone who’s there…for you.. don’t you think they are worth the risk you’ll be taking?

Friendship, just like any other relationships is a two-way traffic. You give what you take. The problem sometimes, or should I say most of the time, people take more than what they bargained for and people give more than they were capable of.

But that's the hard truth about life and relationship. It's unpredictable like the weather. And it's more complicated than those formulas in your Algebra.

Because you know what in life, there’s no guarantee, no safety net, no soft cushion. Once you get close to someone, you give them the key of your happiness, and so is your sorrow. It’s like giving them the hand grenade trusting them to keep the safety pin and hoping they won’t throw it back on your face.

Take a risk or forever wonder what it would be like if you only allow yourself to feel.

Pick your poison. After all, it is your life.

loved this Euphemia. Hmm.. you're kind of a good friend. You I loved the way you wrote this. Indeed life is full of uncertainties simply because we couldn't control anything outside ourselves. But the good news is.. life is also like an echo..whatever we send away it will come back to us several times. Just imagine life like a mirror around you.. whatever you see around is only the reflection of yourself inside you.. If you trust people easily..it's because you knew you are a trustworthy kind of person. Never let anything you see and observe in this world transform you into someone different from the way you perceive yourself. thanks for sharing this.
