The Conversation of Heart and Brain

Once upon a time, Heart fell in love. 

She tried to guess when, where, and how it started, but still couldn't find answers. Heart gave her all. She gave her body, her care, her soul and her whole self to the one she loved. She thought he would reciprocate. She assumed. And she hoped because Heart was almost sure. But, Heart was wrong. She was in pain. She was very devastated. She almost got drown in her own tears. She wished it would end. She wished she could just forget. But, she just couldn't. It was his eyes. And more importantly, it was his soul that Heart saw and she realized how broken his soul was. Heart still didn't give up. She tried harder. She gave him more attention and care and support. Still, it was no use. He saw Heart only as a friend. It broke Heart so much. How could she be only a friend to someone she almost gave her all? It was so unfair. So so unfair. Heart cried again. And again. And again. Every fucking night. Heart blamed herself. How could she loved someone so imperfect? How could she loved someone who couldn't loved her back? How could she be dead when she's alive?

And so, it was the moment Heart called a friend. Brain.

Brain knew everything. She knew the consequences of doing something and not doing it. She was the expert that was why Heart turned to her.

"Should I keep on holding on?" Heart asked.

"Does it matter? You're still gonna carry that pain whether you hold on or you let go." Brain answered.

"But I just can't take it anymore. It hurts a lot. It's too much and I feel really sad. I am so sad and depressed and --and-- I think I don't deserve this kind of pain. It's too much. I can't just take it anymore." Heart said while sobbing hard.

Brain looked at her with pity. She knew how hard Heart was going through. But what could she do? It was Heart's choice. She loved too much when she shouldn't be.

"Shhh..shhh.. I understand Heart. Listen. Tell me what you really want." Brain said calmly while patting Heart on her shoulders.

"I just want to love and to be loved. Is it really hard to acquire? I mean, am I really that hard to love? What's wrong with me? Why can't he just love me? I'm pretty, I'm smart, I'm responsible and I'm understanding. Am I not enough?" Heart answered while crying out.

"Don't tell yourself that. You deserved to be loved Heart. More than you'll ever know." Brain said seriously.

"But why can't he?" Heart asked desperately while looking at Brain's eyes.

There was silence. 

"Some people just aren't meant to be ours Heart. It's just how it is.

No matter how much we tried. Some people just can't love us back. It's the reality. So instead of crying, why don't you just start loving other things such as yourself? You'll soon realize how much loving yourself needs."

Silence.

Heart leaped slowly and started turning away. She spoke no words.

She walked in silence.

Brain knew Heart was still in pain. But she had no choice but to tell Heart the truth. The truth about not being loved back. Brain felt Heart's pain. But she just couldn't let pain overflow. Brain needed to stand and spoke those words to Heart. Because if she won't, then who else will?
