-This is part of an ongoing collection of short accounts I'll be calling "Just Some Thoughts"-
I hope I'm not a burden to you, Earth. Only now did I realized that I was nothing but a foolish man thinking that I knew everything. That I knew reality. That I knew how it all works. But damn, it's hard when you're proven wrong.
We were born innocent. We never cared for race, we never cared for gender, we never cared of each one's history. We never cared for the things that divided us today.
We are just... babies.
Humans had always been miserable. We always had that instinct to take risks, be in danger, have fun - never listen to those around us. But oftentimes, that led us to disastrous events. Either someone dies or someone made others die. Our search for the joy and the momentary experience blinded us of the consequences. Remove us of our logic, at worst.
Even though we are that, we are the nicest, if we ever wanted to be. It will always be on our hands.
But the fact that we are so divided, is there even hope for such thing? I sure hope that humanity would live long and became the greatest we can ever be. The sun will not care if we die. The storms of Jupiter won't stop because we became advance. The stars in the space won't disappear if we disappear. To the universe, our existence is nothing. But to us, humans, it's our everything.
But how can we ever achieved that with such division? Of race, language, and gender? Of borders, beliefs, and religion?
We can never be. Just because there's a war-free world does not mean a free one. But all we can do is hope that humanity will change.
Now, these are some big words coming out of murderer's mouth. Maybe my time here in this lone cell with sharp corners changed me. Everyday I look at the Yard through slits on my walls - seeing my fellow inmates doing the things they do while I wonder, "what if we were never criminals?".
Or a more ambitious thought, "what if there's criminals don't exist?"
Then all of a sudden, fellow criminals outside the prison are getting killed because of mere accuses or hunches. Government says that the police were threatened so they felt the need to draw their guns. But that's not true! Who'd try to fight a band of armed police?
Once I'm released here, it'll be just another prison called Earth and the police is the society. They'll treat you as a criminal until your death. Because that is how humans work - the bad is always imprinted forever in the mind.
We were classified as another beings. Treated as a prisoner even outside of the prison where oftentimes, you've already learnt your lesson. A division constantly created. Ever hope for a world as one? Sorry to break it but with how things are going, nothing will ever change.
There'd be no greatness in division.
Men are fragile, art is immortal. And love transcended Spencer beyond what he could ever be.
