The Next Show

The tears met the pillow after a long time like a long-lost childhood friend.

They hugged each other while the sob told the tales.

The night whispered into my ears telling me to let the tears go.

But the heart wanted tears to stay a little bit more.

The night was threatening that it would go away,

But the tears and the pillow clung to one another while convincing the night to stay.

The night was reluctant but it decided to stay,

Because it wanted to hear what the sob had to say.

The sob then put up its best show in years,

While the pillow and the night stood all shaken and in tears.

The tears then applauded and congratulated the sob,

The pillow and the night shouted, “Encore! Once more!”.

But the sob felt its energy ebbing away,

It said, “Until next time my dear friends”.

The sob waved them goodbye while the night decided to leave,

The pillow stayed where it was and the tears dried up in peace.

The heart was content as the sunlight flooded the room,

It whispered, ”Adieu my friends” while putting up a smile for the next show.
