The Road Trip Part - II

A continuation to The Road Trip Part - I (Rahul & Izhaan will convince their parents in this part.)

Rahul’s Residence

Saturday morning. His father was having tea in his room reading newspaper, his mother making breakfast in the kitchen.

Rahul wakes up goes straight to his dad's room.

Rahul - Hey dad how are you?

(Dad having a weird look because if for instance your son wakes up in the morning and first thing he says is “how are you?” so every Indian father's first thought is he needs something or he has done something wrong.)

Dad - What do you need? Have you done anything wrong?

Rahul - No dad what makes you think that?

Dad - Speak up what is it?

Rahul - Dad can i go on a road trip to Mumbai.

There is silence in the room and Rahul's mom steps in the rooms.

Mom (shouted) - What?? where do you want to go Mumbai in a car do you know how fast the traffic is on the expressway do you know there are people who can stop your car and rob you.. (and she went on and on and on and on. Indian mothers ladies and gentlemen haha..)

Rahul - But mom.

Mom - Oh shut up go to you room no one is going to Mumbai.

Dad to Mom - If he wants to go let him go. It's totally cool to travel with friends. What is the problem?

Mom - Ok spoil your kid as much as you want. (she lefts the room)

Dad - Who all are going and for how many days are you planning?

Rahul - Me, Izhaan, Raman and Shekhar. We would be going for almost 12-14 days (2 weeks approx).

Dad - Ok! i am leaving for office you plan your trip and share it with me in the evening when i come back home and don't worry i'll handle your mother.

8 hours later….

Rahul’s Father is back from office.Everyone having dinner on the dining table.

Dad - So Rahul, tell me your plan.

Rahul - Dad me and my friends are going to Mumbai in a car.

Dad - Do u know it would take you guys almost 2 days i was going through the route on my phone in office but the route is very beautiful you must go but try to stop in the night.

Rahul - Ok dad! Will do that. Also i wanted some money.

Dad - Sure! Carry my credit card and keep some cash.

Mom - Pass me some water and where will you stay in Mumbai?

Rahul - Shekhar has booked a Hotel in mumbai.

Mom - Any girls are also going with you? (Indian mom’s question to her son which she always wanted to ask. haha..)

Rahul - No mom only We 4 boys.

Rahul’s Mom - How’s Shalini? (Shalini is Rahul’s Girlfriend for the past 4 years.)(Here Rahul’s mom is trying her best so that Dad disagrees for Rahul to go on this road trip.)

Rahul - Good!

Dad - Who is Shalini?

Rahul’s Mom - Rahul tell your father about Shalini.

Rahul - Dad Shalini is my very good friend. Mom can i have some more bread.

Rahul’s mom - Sure!

Dad - Why didn’t you tell me about her before?

Rahul has no words...

Dad - haha.. It’s ok son, Don’t worry. I already knew about her.

Rahul starts blushing…

Rahul - Dad can I take my car to Mumbai?

Dad - Sorry son, my car is going for repair to the workshop and I need your car for the time being for my commute.

Rahul - Ok

Dad - Still let me know if this problem get in your way.

Rahul - Sure

Mom - when will you come back. We have to attend a wedding also after 2 weeks and you can’t miss that.

Rahul - Which one, Sugandha’s wedding? I am not coming for that wedding. (Sugandha is Rahul’s Mom’s best friend’s daughter. Rahul doesn’t like her because Sugandha was the one who told Rahul’s mom about Rahul and Shalini.)

Mom - Why?

Rahul - I don’t like her mom.

Dad - What is the problem in Sugandha’s mother?

Rahul - Oho I meant I don’t like her, mom.

Everyone starts laughing…

Mom - Do want more vegetable?

Rahul - Nope

Dad - So when are you planning to leave?

Rahul - Monday.

Dad - alright!

Rahul goes to his room and sends a text to his three friends “guys a go from my side.Mom dad agreed but i can’t get my car.”

What’sApp Group Name - Road Trip Mumbai.

Shekhar - Oh man! How will we go then? I’ll manage a car don’t worry.

Raman - Shekhar is pretty excited to go. He is solving every problem we face... Haha..

Izhaan - He has something in his mind. Speak up, Shekhar. What’s the matter?

Shekhar - Nothing guys. I just want to go on this road trip.

Izhaan - ok

Everyone leaves the chat room for now.

Izhaan’s Residence

(Izhaan is having dinner with his family. His mother has prepared Rogan Josh (Mutton Dish) and rice for dinner. Izhaan stays with his Father, mother and sister. Izhaan’s father is out of the country for Business related work.)

Izhaan - Ummi when is Abbu coming back from London?

Ummi - Most probably next month.Why?

Aapa - Mom this rogan josh is delicious.

Ummi - Thank you, love! So Izhaan you were saying something.

Izhaan - Ummi my friends are planning to go to Mumbai on a road trip can I go?

Ummi - Where are you planning to go?

Izhaan - Mumbai.

Aapa - Mumbai NO! Ummi traffic is really bad in Mumbai. Ummi pass me some rice.

Ummi - Sure

Izhaan - Aapa there is traffic in every metropolitan city these days. Ummi this rogan josh is very delicious.

Ummi - Thank you! Road Trip? How many days?

Izhaan - 2 weeks Ummi.

Ummi - Son driving so far is not the safe.

Izhaan - But mom I really wanna go.

Ummi - Talk to your father about it.

Izhaan - Ok Ummi!

On Road Trip Mumbai (Whatsapp group) :

Izhaan - Guys there seems to be a problem from my side for now because Ummi said to tal to Abbu about this.

Shekhar - Oh Man! Wait I am coming to your place, I'll talk to ummi.

Rahul - Dude what is the matter, Shekhar ready to cross every hurdle for us. Haha..

Raman - Something is there in Mumbai for sure. Shekhar speak up!

Shekhar - Bye!

Rahul - hahaha..

Shekhar reaches Izhaan’s place within in an hour. He texts Izhaan to open the door.

Izhaan - This early? You never came this early whenever I needed you.

Shekhar - Where is ummi?

Izhaan - In her room, come.

Izhaan enters Ummi’s room with Shekhar

Shekhar - Hello Ummi!

Ummi - Hello son, how are you?

Shekhar - Good Ummi. Ummi I came to talk to you about our road trip, Izhaan told me that he couldn’t convince you.

Ummi - No son there is no problem. It is just that his father will take the decision for him.

Shekhar - But ummi, abbu will be returning after a month before he comes back, we will be back from the road trip.

Ummi - Son still I can’t take any call on this. Izhaan’s father decides all of his plans.

Shekhar - Ummi don’t worry I'll take care of Izhaan, we won’t have any problem. We will tell Abbu when we are back.

Ummi - Ok.. (a long silence)

Izhaan - Ummi please…

Ummi - Ok but nothing should go wrong and Izhaan keep in touch.

Izhaan - Sure Ummi..

Shekhar - Done then.. Thank you Ummi..

Ummi - I made rogan josh today for dinner have some.

Shekhar - Ummi I just had dinner before coming here.

Ummi - Ok has some Kheer (milk and rice sweet dish) then.

Shekhar - Thank you Ummi but I am really full.

Ummi - Ok

Shekhar - I’ll leave then.

Izhaan - I’ll walk with you till the car.

Shekhar & Izhaan leaves the room.

Izhaan - Dude! Pretty serious about Mumbai!

Shekhar - No no it’s just that I needed you to come for the trip.

Shekhar sits in his car and leaves.

(Izhaan to the WhatsApp group)

Izhaan - Guys my plan is confirmed now thanks to Shekhar.

Rahul - Shekhar?? How did he confirm your program??

Izhaan - Shekhar came to my house to convince Ummi and he did.

Raman - Great Shekhar now I am pretty sure Shekhar has something in his mind for the Trip and especially Mumbai.
No answer from Shekhar.

Everyone leaves the chat room.

As of now Rahul’s and Izhaan’s plan is confirmed. Shekhar did his best to confirm their program but he still needs to talk to his parents and also Raman has to talk to his family about it.
