The secret life of 'rain'

Info

(Haat - a vegetable market where vendors sell vegetables under tents)

The sun was out there,

shining with all its prosperity and power.

No one suspected a rain today,

It came sneaking around the hot sun,

as if,

the sun were melting the clouds up above.

Those of the people moving in the haat,

paid some attention,

after patting of small drops,

on their heads and arms.

In no time

They witnessed a sea of water,

falling from the sky,

and lives started falling apart,

in search of a shed in the haat.

Not much far from there,

standing behind a window,

I was enjoying the scene.

With all my heart,

I wanted to go and stand,

in the middle of the haat,

with open arms,

welcoming the rain.

But all I did was,

keeping my hands out of the window,

I tried to catch the rain drops.

I kept calm and tried listening to the sound of the rain;

sounds of their tapping,

on the wall, the glass and the metal boundaries of the window,

They supposed to be talking,

in some mysterious language.

I noticed some of them,

making bubbles,

on the long groove, of the sliding window,

with some stored rainwater in it.

And apparently all of them,

were making waves and wavelets.

It was intriguing to see

lives getting appear and disappear,

in the form of bubbles and waves.

I suppose with the ability to create emotions,

these little creatures are certified living beings.

After half an hour of rain,

the sun restored itself,

and the haat crowded again.

A cat came out from my neighbours’ roof,

Jumped on the tent of a vegetable seller,

and disappeared in the haat.

The rain had stopped,

but its fragrance was still alive in the vicinity.

A few drops were still falling,

from the corners of leaves of the trees,

and from the edges of the tents.

Meanwhile I saw a drop falling from the roof of a tea stall,

directly into a cup of tea.

The tea touched a pair of lips,

and the life of rain satisfied a soul.

‘Aha’ — the lips blabbed.
