(This is a story, the kind that speaks of ...once upon a time. I've made it into one of my own. It's been the hardest to write, but I hope my efforts are not on vain. I hope you appreciate this work. It's been a lot for me to build up the guts to publish this one. Hope you like it!!!)
Her eyes were closed when she crossed the wall
But yet she feared no one and stood real tall
Her eyes were dark and glossy, a mortifying sight
A gaze so hard was brutal and could set one alight
She wandered through the dreaded lands with will alone
Her legs never stumbled even once, how her face shone
She had an arrow, a knife, a sword, all were dreaded
Yet she trudged along, something needed to be mended
Her hair did fly, her rest so scarce, a quest she wanted done
But her regal posture would suggest the quest was already won
Yet, the lands were feared where she ventured alone
But on the other side did they know, what power she did hone?
When she entered, dawn was set, the day about to start
No beauty could have matched hers then, 'twas a piece of art
The enemy on seeing her rushed on,they didn't halt
But this warrior woman stood her ground, never did she balk
The enemy did wonder so, the enormity of her gall to remain
The sight did arise doubt in them, but it wasn't in vain
The lines yet pushed on, the sight not smoldering her even now
For when she had set out, she was ready and refused to bow
When the enemy finally reached her, did she spring into action
They swore even the Gods had paused to watch her for a fraction
She took out her arrow at first and aimed her deadly blow
The first one hit the defending line and she watched it stumble slow
Her arrows once finished, her knife came out in seconds
She sliced past body after body, not once looking to the heavens
Her blow was hard, yet slow at that, promised unrelenting pain
The enemy did now consider whether it was best to refrain
But she continued on,not caring once, her enemy's position
Slaying each and every one, is what she thought to be her mission
The enemy now began to flee, they knew what was to happen
But it was impossible, for her pace, not once did it slacken
The remaining few who managed to escape did not go too long
For she sought them out, and killed them, proved them wrong
One little girl was watching this all from behind a tree
By some miracle she had survived the battle and had managed to flee
But now that once the battle was done, she stood in front of her
And looked in wonder at the face, like a beast without fur
Yet she was young and did not fear the way she really should
For she would instead be terrified, shaking where she stood
The warrior woman smiled at her, her face now a soft beauty
There was no trace left of that danger she did see
The girl still remained standing as the woman now transformed
Right into a Goddess herself, She was of no norm
The little girl did not cringe, or show any expression or wonder
'Twas as though she expected it, and her posture did not hinder
The Goddess smiled upon the soul, so little yet not frightened
And placed a Blessed Hand on her head, and the figure brightened
"Wake up." She said, "Oh dear one, your penance has completed,
You need not live as human again, the enemy is defeated...
Your faults, though many, are now forgiven by my grace,
Your expression calms me so, the way you are unfazed."
The girl, where she had stood, was replaced by an entity
It felt emotion, the gratefulness at the Goddess's pity
It's form was rough, barely discernable, but on closer watch
One saw it's own real beauty now, It was no more distraught
"Thank you, Milady." It told her, "You have given me such peace,
The curse now lifted, has left me, rendering me free
I was an ignorant fool, the curse deserved right from the heavens
But that sight makes me say 'I've slept too long, don't let me sleep again."
