Vulnerably Beautiful

Love... for somebody can turn to be... Dangerous!
Beauty cannot be accessed... until you know only One!

Chapter 4: What is it?

You made me bright with your shine,
And snatched your presence from mine.
I am here for you, don't be a rock;
Turn around, open you mouth and talk!

In the girls’ school, Laura explained Gia, on demanding, about her mystic loneliness. The fluctuations in the behavior of Alex were next to impossible to understand. Frequently getting into her house- not to meet her, but her father, made her sink into these thoughts. Her heart pounded swiftly whenever she thought of Alex.

On the other hand, Alex kept on behaving formal and strange. Once he witnessed from the backdoor, Sid discussing with John, “Since Alex saw ‘the girl’ in the balcony, he’s behaving eccentric. He has lost his kind of happiness. His excitement has like lost the way of his life.” John replied in disapproval, “But I guess he’s going to be alright.” Alex entered as always pretending of not knowing anything they discussed; and so their discussion stopped. Calm silence shed itself. “What is it?” asked Alex. “We were talking about our graduation,” Sid changed the topic. Alex did not leave this chance off his hands and mocked, “Is it so?” Joh and Sid turned over their heads to exchange glances. “Then let me in,” Alex pulled a chair and sat on it.

It started drizzling softly. Alex rushed to the window and gazed up at the clouds.

In her house, Laura was also at her window. Watching it rain, her eyes started shedding ears.

Next day, in the school, Laura rushed to Alex’s class with Gia. “What’s your problem?” She burst out as she pulled his shoulder towards her. “What?” he asked for justification. “Don’t you feel any difference?” She continued asking. “No!” he refused softly. She left his shoulder and walked out in anger with hidden despair.

“I think, he don’t like you as for now,” Gia consoled. “Or he would have replied you with his feelings.” “It’s not that,” Laura made herself strong by refusing her, “I could see in his eyes, he was hiding something from me, you, in fact, everyone. There is something, I could feel, and that he is not sharing. This is striking me.”

Just then a girl came in and gave a piece of paper in the hand of Gia. “What is it?” Gia asked curiously gazing at the paper. Before she could turn her eyes over to the girl she overturned and walked away as if hypnotized. She was opening to read it. Laura held her hand and asked wrinkling her forehead, “Is it okay to read the thing that you even don’t know from whom it is?” “It’s okay Laura; it’s just a piece of paper although! What harm is there in reading something?” Gia resented. Laura felt – it made sense. She opened it to read. She held the paper upwards in the air in her two fingers. “What is that? What’s written in there?” asked Laura. “It’s empty.” Gia replied.

What she said was false. There was something written in that paper with black ink. Although we must praise her pretention.

The whole day Laura was in dead-silence. No talk. No answers. She was out of this world. She was not in this dark world of miseries; but in her own world where silence was the only voice, which was mandatory. She was a sketch artist; she kept on sketching some things that were something more than mysteries. The thick sketch-book was filled in a day with drawings and tears.

As the school left, Gia suggested Laura, “You go home and rest for a while. You would be fine then. I have a very important work, I’ll complete it and then be there for you.” Laura without replying, went off. Gia saw her off and thought, Don’t know what stage her life has brought on her threshold. However I must get going. She rushed to the auditorium where Sid and John were waiting for her.

“Sorry, I’m late,” apologized Gia. “Thanks to you, you came. We thought, you wouldn’t be coming here,” Sid sighed a relief. “How could I?” said Gia, “When you sent the message in that paper about discussing the story of Alex and Laura, I was deliberately waiting for this moment!” “We have to do something to pace-up their story,” John came up to the point. “What is that, we could even do?” asked Gia.

“Listen up, I have a plan through which we can act like a catalyst in the love-story of theirs,” said Sid.

Sid narrated the plan and everyone agreed to what he said.

A couple days later, Gia said Laura that she began liking Sid. Laura burst out, “I am glad that you got your love! But we’ve to check him before you proceed. You know, ‘Precaution is better than cure.’” But we need someone who knows him very well. I think I know who it is,” Gia commented. “Who?” she asked. Gia paused for a while and answered, “It is Alex who knows him very well.”

Laura kept silence, gulped saliva and patiently said, “Okay.”

“Sid asked me for a date today evening,” Gia proceeded. “Then I shall be going now,” she said and filled herself sternly wit courage.

She called Alex to the auditorium and asked, “How is Sid?”

“What?” Alex surprised, “What do you mean?”

She said, “Gia and your friend, Sid are going for a date tonight. Are they compatible with each other?”

“Is it true?” Alex was filled with surprises and shocks, “He didn’t tell me a word about that. You said they were going for a date tonight, right?”

“Yeah,” she said.

“Then, what we can do is: we can go their place and watch them to know how everything is going on. Maybe there we can get some portents,” he resolved.

“What all do we need to take with us?” she asked.

“First give me your number… and don’t forget your cell phone! Bring your detective cap, glasses and a scarf, in fact two and whatever you think that is necessary,” he listed as she gave her cell number.
